Description

Responsible and accountable for efficiently and courteously answering, for the benefit of the general public, a wide variety of in person and incoming telephone inquiries regarding the sale and maintenance of records. Responsible for keeping up to date by bulletin, published changes in the Iowa Code and by attending State sponsored DNR seminars on all items added, altered and deleted from the laws, rules and regulations as pertains to the issuance, maintenance and reporting of any and all items related to hunting and fishing licenses and the licensing and recording of boat and snowmobile registrations and titles. Responsible for the sale of certificates and maintenance of records relating to all types of hunting and fishing licenses; sale and maintenance of records pertaining to boat and snowmobile licenses; and a variety of other departmental duties, including assisting in processing automobile license renewals, and for the training and supervision of Motor Vehicle Department personnel. This position is a lead position within the Department of Natural Resources and Motor Vehicle and under the direct authority of the County Treasurer and the First Deputy of the Motor Vehicle Department.
Duties
The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Responsible for the accurate issuance, checking and recording of various licenses and registrations and for the maintenance of pertinent records and accurate reporting to the County Treasurer and the State Department of Natural Resources of said licenses, and accounting of fees received for same.
  • Responsible for the accurate balancing of incoming monies for DNR licenses and other licenses and titles pertaining to DNR.
  • Assist with the supervision and training of Motor Vehicle Department personnel assigned to work with DNR functions, and lend assistance to the Motor Vehicle Department as the work load demands.
  • Responsible for proper filing of DNR reports to the State of Iowa and to the County Treasurer, the Deputy for Bookkeeping for the County Treasurer, the First Deputy of the Motor Vehicle Department, and for the accounting of all fees received through the DNR to those persons and/or Department.
  • Performs various other duties and functions as may be assigned, reserving the right of the employer to change or amend those duties at any time.
  • Assists with the accurate and effective accomplishment of a variety of reports and other duties
  • Performs ordering and maintenance of office supplies
  • Performs related tasks/assignments/special projects as assigned
  • Ability to speak fluent English is needed for the effective performance of the position for which it is imposed
  • Assists customers and collects the proper fees for the licenses, titles, and legal documents
  • Assists with the accurate and effective accomplishment of a variety of reports and other duties
  • Performs various other duties relating to scope of responsibility as assigned by County Treasurer and/or County Appointed Deputy
  • Attendance is required

Required Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Required to Performing Essential Functions:
  • Must possess High school diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED).
  • Specific knowledge of a body of rules or operations for a particular functional area or areas such as might be acquired in one (1) to three (3) years of prior related experience.
  • Must have experience working with Excel, Microsoft and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn County software.
  • Keyboarding skill test from Iowa Workforce Development with a 40 words per minute (net score) within the last 12 months.
  • Personal maturity to safeguard confidential information.
