Job description

Virgin Galactic is seeking a highly motivated Quality Control Lead to support our Quality team. Guided by our values, "Safety above All", we proactively manage the risks inherent in human spaceflight through our daily actions in the design and assembly efforts.
As a Virgin Galactic QC Lead you will be leading a team of inspectors, overseeing Manufacturing and Flight Operations performed on Virgin Galactic's Space Flight System (SFS) as well as Support Aircraft, ensuring all work performed meets Engineering definition and follows Regulatory, Company, Aerospace standards and safety protocols while prioritizing the "Safety Above All" company values. key duties include training inspectors, assisting conflict resolution, identifying potential defects, and maintaining accurate documentation to guarantee the integrity of spacecraft components and Vehicles.
Responsibilities
  • Assign daily tasking for QC Inspectors.
  • Communicate with QC Supervisors to coordinate and support planning schedule effectively.
  • Follow up on work in progress for Daily tasking.
  • Identify and remove roadblocks for the execution of In process and Final Inspections
  • Ensure proper safety procedures are followed within the team environment.
  • Ensure that Manufacturing and maintenance operations are properly documented on work orders and/or applicable records.
  • Ensure non-conforming articles are properly identified and segregated.
  • Act as a Mentor and Help Develop QC Inspectors .
  • Assists in the maintenance of a business culture which supports Virgin Galactic's overall business objectives and goals

Required Skills and Experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • A minimum of 6 years of Aerospace industry experience.
  • Must have experience with composite aircraft (commercial or military aerospace application).
  • Non-Conformance process flow experience.
  • Must be familiar with Quality Management System.
  • High school diploma/GED is required; additional experience from an A&P accredited school is strongly preferred.
  • Must hold a FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification.
  • Excellent computer skills. Skilled in working in Microsoft Office applications.

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $72,134.00-$105,019.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
