Whowe'relooking for:

The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) has a fantastic opportunity for aClinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 2with theAmbulatory LabServicesTeamat Eastside Specialty Center in Bellevue, WA.

In this role, you will join a team of respectful and collaborative lab professionalsinproviding outstanding direct patient care toUW Medicine patients. As a CLT2, you willbe responsible forpre-analytic laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy and specimen processing as well as performing several rapid tests on-site. This is a great professional growth opportunity forLabTechnicians,LabAssistants, orPhlebotomists to learn and perform point of care testing, quality control and quality assurance, and basic troubleshooting. This position may rotatebetween theHusky Health Center, UWMC Roosevelt, and South Lake Unionclinical laboratories as needed.

Work schedule:

  • 100% FTE

  • Monday - Friday (no weekends and holidays)

  • Day shift

Whatyou'llcontribute:

  • Perform stat and routine testsutilizingkit assays and point of care devices and accurately enter test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

  • Perform quality control analyses on all tests assigned anddeterminewhether all parameters are within established ranges.

  • Perform routine quality monitoring of test systems and troubleshoot, when necessary, by consulting manufacturer's manuals, division procedures, and requesting guidance from the MLS or Lead.

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and appropriately handle telephone inquiries from staff and providers.

  • Perform phlebotomy on adult and pediatric patients.

  • Interpretprovidertest orders, prioritize specimen handling based on specimen type and clinical urgency,monitorrequisitions and labels for accuracy,and investigate/document errors and incomplete orders.

  • Prepare and process specimens for transport and testing, storing specimens underoptimaltemperature conditions for the test(s)indicated.

  • Exhibita workingknowledge of the lab information systems (LIS), including Sunquest and EPIC;problem-solve issues, and generate batch lists, pending logs, and exception reports, etc. to document and track specimens within the Department.

  • Participate in training anddemonstrateroutine laboratory techniques to students and new employees.

  • Monitor laboratory inventory in assigned work area and notify lead if supplies are needed and place orders, if assigned.

  • RepresentDLMPand UW Medicinetoplayan important rolein promoting our mission, values and goal of service excellence and patient safety.

Whatyou'llneed:

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two(2)years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.

  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Additionaldepartmentrequirement:

  • Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist (MA-P) certification with the Washington State Department of Health ORobtainthe MA-P certification within180 daysof start date.

Desiredqualifications:

  • Phlebotomy and specimen processing experience.
