Summary
The Features Editor is responsible for all popular culture, dance, artist/performance reviews, theatrical reviews, and other miscellaneous non-news stories that may serve general entertainment purposes. Additionally, the Features Editor is a leading member of the Entertainment Committee.
This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. Through this role, students will strengthen the following competencies:

  • Technology: Students build technology skills by using department systems, software, digital tools, equipment, or university platforms to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the Features section layout of The Xavierite newspaper
  • Ensures that Features Section is three-four pages of content per issue
  • Writes two articles per week
  • Ensures that ideas and personal from the Entertainment Committee are utilized in the section.
  • Features Section contains a wide variety of articles; from popular culture, dance, artist/performance reviews, theatrical reviews, etc.
  • Since the Features Section has the "middle spread" of the newspaper, with majority of the pages in color. It is the job of the Features editor that the section be the most creatively designed section
  • Attends weekly section meetings with the Editor-in-Chief and the Deputy Editor- in-Chief
  • Attends general staff meeting
  • Meets weekly with his/her section writers
  • Maintain weekly-posted office hours in The Xavierite office (6 hours per week).
  • Ensures that The Xavierite website has up to date material to be posted

Qualifications
MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY
Must be Federal Work Study Eligible
Must Include a Resume and Cover Letter
Preference in journalism, communication, or English.
