General Description and Classification Standards:

The Airport Security Systems Assistant I supports airport security and compliance by processing TSA-required credentials for employees, tenants, airlines, concessionaires, and contractors needing access to the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) and/or Air Operations Area (AOA) at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). This position verifies identity and documentation, completes badging workflows, issues access media, maintains secure records, and provides customer service in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

Supervision Received:
This position is supported by the Airport Security Systems Assistant II (Lead) classification, which provides lead direction for this role. The position reports to the Airport Security Representative - Credentialing Supervisor and does not exercise supervisory responsibilities. Work is performed under close supervision and is evaluated through direct observation, quality reviews, performance metrics, and periodic audits to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to customer service standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience -

High school diploma or equivalent is required. 
Minimum two (2) years of directly related professional data entry operations and customer service experience in an administrative, compliance, customer service, records, or security-related role is required.


Licensures and Certifications - None required.
Preferred Requirements - Experience with vetting and airport credentialing; experience with identity verification, background check workflows, and/or biometric enrollment; Airport Certified Employee (ACE) - Trusted Agent Certification; and typing proficiency of 35 WPM with attention to accuracy are preferred.

Work Environment:
On-site work at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in a fast-paced, public-facing environment with strict security protocols and consistently high customer volume.
Must be available to work any shift and may be assigned any day or hours based on operational need; schedules may change with business needs.
Requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods and moving or traversing between locations as needed to assist customers, operate equipment, and perform office-related tasks.
Requires constant verbal communication and listening in person to provide services, explain requirements, answer questions, and enforce security procedures.
Requires close visual attention to review identification documents, forms, computer screens, badge information, and biometric equipment for accuracy.
Requires frequent and repetitive use of computers, data entry systems, office and credentialing equipment, including cameras, scanners, printers, fingerprinting equipment, and biometric devices.
Requires handling, fingering, grasping, reaching, and movement of documents, badge stock, files, printer supplies, paper, records, and other office materials.
Requires the ability to maintain focus, accuracy, security awareness, and attention to detail while processing a high volume of transactions in a security-sensitive environment.

Lifting Requirements:
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This position may require lifting and moving supplies up to approximately 25 pounds, including badge stock, printer supplies, paper, records, files, and other office materials to support routine credentialing operations, research, and audit activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Processes SIDA/AOA badging transactions, including new badges, renewals, modifications, replacements, and terminations.
Verifies applicant identity and eligibility by reviewing required documentation and forms in accordance with TSA and airport policies.
Conducts applicant intake and enrollment by collecting forms, capturing photos, completing fingerprint/biometric enrollment as applicable, and obtaining required acknowledgements.
Manages customer traffic to maintain orderly queue flow and service standards.
Issues, activates, updates, suspends, and revokes badges and access privileges in the badging/access control system in accordance with policy.
Provides clear instructions to applicants and sponsoring employers regarding requirements, timelines, training prerequisites, and next steps.
Maintains accurate, audit-ready records and ensures proper retention and confidentiality of sensitive and personally identifiable information (PII).
Reconciles and safeguards badge stock, credential printers, and other secure materials; immediately reports discrepancies, loss, or suspected misuse.
Responds to access issues, system errors, and applicant inquiries; troubleshoots basic problems and escalates issues as appropriate.
Supports compliance activities, reporting, and audits by producing required documentation and transaction logs upon request.
Ensures adherence to all security procedures for controlled areas containing PII, maintaining the security and compliance of the Credentialing Office.
May perform other duties as assigned.
