Job description

Duties: Job Summary: As a member of the Administrative Services Department, the Building Engineer is responsible for the receipt and processing of various requests for administrative and/or building maintenance services. Working extensively with the Building Engineer, reports directly to the Vice President, assisting in the daily operations and functions. Job Functions: Preventative and routine maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, etc. Monitor construction projects and oversee Facility vendors. General carpentry; including building shelves, hanging pictures, plaques, mounting TVs & speakers to walls. Assemble desks, file cabinets and other office furnishings. Assist in personnel moves in disassembling & reassembling furniture both at the Santa Monica office and other offsite locations in the Los Angeles area. Heating and air conditioning adjustments for individual offices Be able to lift and move approx. 30 pounds. Give direction and schedule contractors for building repair and maintenance. Proactive building inspections to find problems before they get reported (Leaks, lights, trash, etc.)
Skills: Minimum of three (3) years in a responsible building Engineer position and/or construction foreman or lead carpenter with demonstrated work & safety experience with: Plumbing Electrical Carpentry HVAC Power tools Must be computer proficient, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook Basic understanding of building systems; HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire/life safety Good written and verbal communication skills Must be flexible and enjoy multitasking Solid people and customer service skills Must function well as a member of a team Proactive and self-motivated individual Excellent follow through and problem-solving skills
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required Formal technical training or trade school required
Schedule Notes: Must be flexible for overtime, on call for off hours and weekends, may be required. Multiple locations: Based at Santa Monica with travel to Woodland Hills, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Century City. Potential to extend.
