Position Description:

The Construction Inspector position will support construction inspection, working across multiple projects with a primary focus on building, roads, and bridges at various airports. Inspectors will read and interpret drawings, applicable building codes, ADA requirements, contract specifications, and shop structural drawings; verify compliance with the aforementioned contract documents; and communicate effectively with Contractors, engineers, architects, and project management staff. Documents daily progress of the work, prepare monthly progress payment request, track various changes, verify time and material work, measure and document job quantities. Documentation and information retrieval may require computer literacy skills. Inspectors must have the ability to set priorities, the ability to make decisions and work effectively with minimal supervision, the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with stakeholders, contractors, construction workers, the public, and must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times

Essential Job Duties:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive daily inspection reports that capture the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all construction work activities, while ensuring the reports are clear and concise to accurately reflect daily progress.
  • Assist in reviewing monthly progress payment requests when assigned to a program.
  • Track various changes, verify time and material work, measure, and document job quantities.
  • Conduct special inspections on various disciplines.
  • Possess experience, knowledge, and understanding of methods used throughout construction.

  • QC Inspectors will inspect the construction of a wide variety of airport improvements, utilities projects to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, contracts, permits, environmental documents, agreements for work, and may provide construction inspection support.
  • Computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently, including change orders, submittals, RFIs, and other inspection documents, with minimal supervision.

May assume other duties as required/needed. May be required to work various shifts, including day, swing, and night. Shall be open to work modified schedules, including nights and weekends, as dictated by the contractors' work activities and accelerated project schedules. Availability to work overtime as required to meet project deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks is preferred.
