SUMMARY

The Rhino Shop Manager provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership support for theRhino Shop, vending and future auxiliary services. The Rhino Shop Manager maintains internal controls over cash and inventories, and ensures the team is effectively meeting goals and deadlines. This position is responsible for providing quality service to students, faculty and staff, alumni, and community members, and reports to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Manage all aspects of the Rhino Shop to ensure a profitable operation that adheres to proper financial controls. Supervise Rhino Shop staff and provide general direction on all merchandising and sales programs. Train personnel, prepare work schedules, and process time sheets.
  2. Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Finance departments to develop and implement short- and long-term strategies to increase revenue, improve efficiency, and enhance customer experience. Assist in the development of marketing strategies to promote retail offerings, special promotions and seasonal campaigns, and collaborate with campus partners to support branded merchandise needs.
  3. Maintain an attractive, well-organized, and clean retail environment aligned with the college's brand and student/community needs. Ensure merchandise is neatly and accurately shelved, and keep aisles, offices and stockrooms free of hazards for customers and employees.
  4. Deliver a high-level customer service experience by proactively welcoming students, employees and visitors, guiding them to the products they need, resolving inquiries efficiently, and ensuring a positive and seamless visit to the Rhino Shop.
  5. Promotes and maintains a safe and secure retail and work environment by ensuring compliance with safety policies, keeping sales floors and stockrooms clear of hazards, conducting regular safety inspections, addressing issues, and ensuring that staff are trained.
  6. Provide regular reports on overall store activities and inventories. Identify trends and recommend strategies for improvements.
  7. Oversee and monitor vending services and the Food Trucks program.
  8. Oversee the ordering and receiving of textbooks, supplies, and related items for all departments of the College. Establish selling prices in line with existing guidelines. Ensure timely communication and collaboration with faculty and academic departments regarding textbook adoption.
  9. Oversee E-Commerce operations and ensure accuracy and timeliness of online order fulfillment, minimizing processing times during peak rushes to support students.
  10. Maintain and manage point-of-sale and textbook management computer software for efficient store operation; keep software updated to latest versions. Train Rhino Shop employees on the software to perform specific tasks as needed to carry out their job duties.
  11. Reconcile daily sales and activity and prepare accurate daily deposits in accordance with the College's financial procedures. Review, approve, and process applicable purchase orders, invoices and expenses per the established budget and guidelines.
  12. Oversee and manage Rhino Shop operations at the Lincoln Campus. Assist Lincoln Campus with supervision of Rhino Shop staff, assist with book sales, Rhino Shop setup, book delivery and pickup, etc.
  13. Meet with book and merchandise sales representatives as needed each semester to ensure inventory is up to date. Assist book representatives in selling and buying textbooks at scheduled times during the semester. Calculate used book prices for resale.
  14. Work with student services and other staff to prepare regalia and other items needed for the various graduation ceremonies held at the College each year.
  15. Maintain ordering and stocking supplies in accordance with the Rhino Shop budget. Responsible for yearly inventory and for fiscal operations and monitoring of the Rhino Shop's performance.
  16. Maintain a current knowledge of policies and procedures of publishers, distributors, and other suppliers. Ensure compliance with all College policies, state and federal regulations, and industry best practices.
  17. Serve on appropriate College committees, and attend College meetings as needed, appointed or required.
  18. Represent the Rhino Shop and the College, at state, regional, and national association meetings.
  19. Assist with special projects, college events, and perform other duties as assigned.
  20. Maintain a high standard of professional and ethical practice in representing the College. Maintain confidentiality of applicable information. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the field or discipline with continued adherence to professional accountability. Accept responsibility for managing situations and problems. Provide a high level of service to customers by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and partnerships. Work cooperatively with team members and colleagues, contributing positively and constructively to the achievement of team and College objectives. Adhere to the College's policies, procedures, and other established guidelines.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 3 years retail experience with at least one year of supervisory experience in a general merchandise retail business, which included responsibility for ordering, sales, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling, and use of computer equipment required.
  • Experience in a college or retail Bookstore preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and planning skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills and the demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Generally works in an office/retail environment; however, may stand, sit, or walk for long periods of time.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching with the ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 40 pounds is required.
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as weather, noise, dust, and odors.
  • Work schedule generally follows regular campus operating hours; however, evening and weekend hours may be required.
  • Must be able to travel between campuses and to other applicable events.
  • Work environment can be stressful at times in dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines.
