About The Role

The Facility Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems. This role ensures optimal performance, safety, and compliance with all applicable standards.

What You'll Do Here

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot steam boiler systems (low and/or high pressure).

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical components including pumps, motors, fans, valves, and air distribution systems.

  • Perform maintenance on VAV boxes, terminal units, and hydronic heating/cooling systems.

  • Conduct plumbing repairs (fixtures, piping, drains) and light welding/fabrication for brackets, supports, and piping.

  • Safely troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480V, including motors, starters, VFDs, and control circuits.

  • Utilize building automation systems (BAS/DDC) to monitor and adjust HVAC setpoints under guidance.

  • Interpret electrical, mechanical, and piping schematics, control diagrams, and OEM manuals.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and boiler safety procedures.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school preferred.

  • 10+ years as a building engineer, stationary engineer, or HVAC technician in a commercial or industrial facility.

  • Mechanical: Troubleshooting pumps, motors, fans, valves; knowledge of hydronic systems, steam traps, condensate return, heat exchangers; basic plumbing and welding skills.

  • Welding certifications or demonstrable experience preferred.

  • Boiler operator license (or ability to obtain within 12 months).

  • HVAC Certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Working knowledge of basic math skills.

  • Valid driver's license

Training Requirements:

  • Continual GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) training and trade certification and renewals as necessary.

  • Maintain compliance with company EHS policies and documentation requirements.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Altasciences is unable to provide sponsorship, sponsorship transfers, or visa maintenance for this position. All applicants must possess valid work authorization that does not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.

The pay range estimated for this position is $130,000 annually. Please note that hourly rates/salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location as well as internal equity and market data.
