Job description

I. Purpose of this Position:
The Bible Teacher is responsible for implementing strategies in the Bible program to achieve the mission of The Day School - partnering with families, educating the whole child, and providing a nurturing Christian environment
II. Results/Impact of this Position:
  • Student development in the area of Biblical studies
  • Informing staff and parents about Bible class
  • Co-lead Christmas and Easter worship services
  • Oversee and lead weekly Chapel services
  • Maintaining desired school culture

III. Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement lessons that help students develop spiritually, socially-emotionally and in biblical knowledge
  • Develop the yearly scope and sequence for Bible stories
  • Assist in leading chapel twice a week
  • Assist in leading 2 worship services
  • Lead Kinder Shepherds in Servant Leadership curriculum
  • Prepare lessons and instruction that accommodates individual student differences
  • Integrate technology in the teaching/learning process as appropriate
  • Consistently assess student growth and learning through informal and formal measures
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment that is safe, clean and conducive to learning
  • Manage student behavior and implement discipline according to The Day School policy
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials and facilities
  • Establish open lines of communication with students, the Director and other colleagues
  • Assist in the selection of appropriate instructional materials
  • Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
  • Exhibit professional judgment and responsibility at all times
  • Participate in staff-development to improve job-related skills
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, committee meetings, and work sessions as required by the Director
  • Follow all rules, regulations and policies of The Day School
  • Exhibit The Day School Core Values
  • Participate in and assist with school events and processes, including carpool, Family Picnic, Dad's Night, Open House, fundraisers, Admission events and school committees

IV. Skills, Traits and Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)

V. Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies, Theology, Christian Education, Early Childhood or related field
  • Training in Bible class curriculum
  • Teaching certification preferred

VI. Time Commitment:
  • Position is full-time with occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
  • Teacher is required to be on campus for all scheduled classes.

VII. Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 lb.
