Job Title: Assistant Coach- High School- Girls Basketball
Reports to: High School Girls Basketball Head Coach
Salary: TBD depending on experience and education
Work year: Seasonal
Job Summary:
Join our staff as the high school girls' basketball assistant coach and lead a team of highly dedicated student athletes. Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the high school basketball program. Assistant Coach assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.
Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A teacher with a current teaching license is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Current CPR and AED Certification.
  • Previous coaching experience in this sport at the high school level is desirable.
  • Have a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and qualify under the district's insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
  • Desire to continue career improvement.
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.

Essential Functions:
  • Assists the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.
  • Assesses player's skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head basketball coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
  • Assists with determining game strategy.
  • Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
  • Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach.
  • Promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Support the value of an education.
  • Help students achieve gains in athletic skill and team performance.
  • Maintain good public relations for the basketball program
  • Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities.
  • Follow school, league, district, and CHSAA regulations and policies.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
