Job description

Job Overview:

The Dance Instructor is a part-time position located at the Boulder Point, 0 Boulder Hill Pass, Montgomery, IL. This position reports to the Recreation Supervisor - Dance.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Instruct ballet and pointe classes for various levels and age according to program curriculum and prepare lesson plans
  • Ability to create choreography, select appropriate music, and assist at dance recitals
  • Ability to evaluate dance participants and make recommendations for improvement
  • Train, supervise, and motivate participants by being creative, positive, and enthusiastic
  • Communicate with dance participants and parents
  • Meet deadlines on costume forms, dancer evaluations, availability forms and other administrative requests
  • Assisting in marketing and promoting the dance program
  • Ability to teach ballet from beginner to advanced level


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Formal training in ballet (Vaganova, Cecchetti, RAD, or equivalent)
  • Preferred degree in Dance Education and/or experience of at least two years as a dance instructor
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member of the dance staff
