Job description

Talon/LPE is seeking a skilled Hollow Stem Auger Driller to join our team. As a leader in environmental and geotechnical drilling services, Talon/LPE is committed to safety, quality, and professional growth. The Hollow Stem Auger Driller will supervise and train crews, ensure safe and efficient drilling operations, and maintain compliance with all regulations. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in hands-on, outdoor environments and are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, and direct drilling crews on project sites.
  • Ensure all drilling activities comply with company policies and safety regulations.
  • Maintain and operate drilling equipment, including rotary drill rigs, water trucks, air compressors, and pumps.
  • Monitor drilling progress, select and change drill bits as needed, and record boring and well data accurately.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on equipment.
  • Position and prepare drilling equipment in safe locations, verifying clearance from underground and overhead utilities.
  • Assist with the collection, labeling, and storage of samples.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and on-site supervisors regarding project status and safety concerns.
  • Participate in safety programs and promote a culture of safety within the team.
  • Restore sites and plug observation wells as required.
  • Perform remediation tasks, such as adding chemicals and repairing equipment as needed.
  • Travel to various job sites and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years’ experience operating drilling equipment.
  • Valid CDL driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Physical ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites and work extended hours as needed.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to safety and teamwork.
