Job description

The Memphis Grizzlies are seeking a AV Technician to support live event production and technology operations at FedExForum. This entry-level role assists with the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of audio, video, broadcast, and digital signage systems for Grizzlies games, concerts, meetings, and special events.

The ideal candidate is dependable, eager to learn, and passionate about live production, sports, and entertainment technology in a fast-paced arena environment


  • Assist with set-up, operations, and breakdown of equipment, such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing board for events, games, meetings, concerts, and other presentations;
  • Help maintain and troubleshoot digital signage, TVs, IPTV displays, and video presentations systems throughout FedExForum and ensuring displaying proper material;
  • Monitor audio and video feeds as appropriate per event, ensuring quality production;
  • Alert supervisor of any issues that may occur during show;
  • Assist with basic signal routing, cable management, equipment patching, and system checks before and during events;
  • Support production communications system including Riedel intercom systems.
  • Ensure equipment is safely handled, transported, and stored following department procedures;
  • Assist with inventory organization, maintenance, and upkeep of AV and broadcast equipment;
  • Ensure the safe use, transfer, and/or shipment of equipment;
  • Report all unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor;
  • Maintain a professional attitude in a fast-paced live event environment;
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through regular communications and coordination with on-site and off-site Broadcast team members, other departments, event management, and visiting event personnel to support successful event execution;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3-5 years in set up of live remote TV broadcast, sports broadcast, live in- arena events and/or music productions.
  • Basic understanding of audio, video, or broadcast equipment and signal flow preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Able to follow technical directions.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environments and adapt during live events and meet strict deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn arena production systems and event technology workflows.
  • Proficiency with MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel, and the Internet.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended event hours as needed.

Nice to Have:

  • Previous experience in live events, sports production, theater, concerts, or AV support.
  • Coursework or certifications in Broadcast, Audio Engineering, Multi-Media Production, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with LED displays, digital signage, IPTV or communication systems.
  • Knowledge and passion for NBA and NCAA basketball, entertainment and live production technology.
