Job Description

The Assistant Manager, Audio/Video Technical is responsible for leading the onsite design implementation, installation, operation and maintenance of audio/video systems of assigned Entertainment projects of various scale, including marquee events, park theatrical entertainment, press events, and special projects. This position oversees day-to-day project execution, technical quality, inventory management, and logistics while partnering with Project Management, Tech Management, Audio/Video Creative, Entertainment Creative Development, Technical Services, and various vendors to ensure successful implementation of Entertainment experiences.   

JOB DUTIES

  • Coordinate with the AV Creative team, in addition to the vendors and other partners to ensure successful implementation, maintenance, and operation of AV designs, equipment, and elements on assigned projects.
  • Represent the AV Tech team during project meetings as required, facilitating the exchange of information between all stakeholders, providing updates, and the implementation planning.
  • Working with AV Creative team and project management, presents needs and solutions for design changes and challenges in order to maintain the creative vision and design intent.
  • Review and coordinate the development of Audio/Video system documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate development and implementation of Audio/Video system designs based on project requirements
  • Acts as a conduit of information between project teams and AV Management on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors activities, installations, commissioning, and project deliverables throughout assigned projects.
  • Maintain documents and system files to ensure proper archiving of all AV systems.
  • Responsible for inputting, maintaining, and tracking inventory of all Entertainment Technical AV equipment.
  • Submit and track logistic requests for AV equipment as required.
  • Monitor technical performance of Entertainment Audio/Video systems by reviewing show reports, maintenance documentation, and operational feedback to ensure reliable performance.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, and lifecycle planning for Entertainment Audio/Video equipment.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and work direction to Entertainment Technical Services Audio/Video personnel during installations, rehearsals, live operations, and strikes. 
  • Coordinate staffing requirements and support schedules with Entertainment Operations to meet project and operational needs.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years experience in theatrical or entertainment audio/video design, implementation, or production. 
  • Extensive theme park experience in technical audio/video production for live theatrical entertainment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, coordinating vendors, and managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to prioritize competing project demands.
  • Confidence to effectively communicate across all lines of business, and with all levels of management.
  • Ability to deal well with ambiguity and constant change, working in fast-paced environments with accelerated production schedules.
  • Strong working knowledge of various software programs including but not limited to: Q-SYS, QLab, Reaper, Mainstage, Pro Tools, Dante, and IT Networking protocols.
  • Strong working knowledge of various hardware systems including but not limited to: Yamaha, Allen & Heath, and QSC digital audio consoles, Alcorn McBride, Geffen, Blackmagic, Brightsign, and Gilderfluke.
  • Expert ability to troubleshoot and address issues in complex systems.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and nights as required.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint.
  • A strong passion to drive high-quality results, both end-product as well as process.

Leadership:  Set a positive, productive and communicative tone as a leader in the department.  Partner with the leadership teams when representing policies and procedures, remaining positive with employees, and voicing concerns directly to leadership.  Lead by example through strong work ethic, sound decision-making, and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences. Support departmental leadership by reinforcing company policies, promoting open communication, and serving as a trusted resource for employees and project teams.
