Job description

Overview

Have you ever wondered why higher education feels stuck? Or imagined rebuilding it from the ground up? Imagine a university where advanced artificial intelligence enhances every student's learning experience through personalized, adaptive, and real-world education.
San Francisco Bay University (SFBU), an innovative, nonprofit, WASC-accredited university located in the heart of Silicon Valley, seeks a forward-thinking and experienced Online Adjunct Professor of Artificial Intelligence to teach AI 505: Corporate Strategy in AI. Working alongside AI-enabled instructional technologies, the faculty member will guide graduate students through engaging asynchronous learning experiences while providing the mentorship, coaching, and academic oversight that only expert faculty can deliver.
AI 505 recognizes that Artificial Intelligence is no longer simply a technical capability—it is a board-level strategic imperative. The course prepares current and aspiring business leaders to integrate AI at enterprise scale using strategic frameworks, governance principles, and organizational change practices. Students learn to identify opportunities where AI creates competitive advantage, align AI initiatives with corporate strategy, evaluate ethical, legal, and societal risks, develop responsible AI governance frameworks, mobilize cross-functional teams, and measure organizational outcomes using meaningful KPIs. Through executive case studies, simulations, and a capstone consulting project, students develop a comprehensive enterprise AI strategy suitable for presentation to executive leadership.

We are looking for educators who are actively experimenting with new forms of assessments with the introduction of AI tools. Ideal candidates have designed, tested, and refined AI-enabled assessment strategies that reflect the realities of an AI-enabled world. • Review AI-supported formative assessment recommendations and validate student mastery.

  • Continuously improve course materials and AI-enabled learning experiences.

  • Evaluate summative assessments and submit final grades in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to advance SFBU's AI curriculum.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience teaching graduate-level online courses using a Learning Management System.

  • Expertise in enterprise AI strategy, AI governance, responsible AI, digital transformation, and organizational change.

  • Experience incorporating generative AI and AI-enhanced pedagogy into higher education.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Must reside in California.

Preferred Qualifications

Compensation: $7,300.80 for each 8-week course (hourly rate is $152.10)

Application Materials
  • Cover letter describing your qualifications, teaching philosophy, and alignment with SFBU's mission and core values. In addition to describing your interest in the position, please describe one or two experiments you have conducted using AI in the design or implementation of student assessments. What prompted the experiment? What did you learn about student learning, academic integrity, or feedback? How have those experiences changed the way you assess students today? Please be as specific as possible and include concrete examples.

  • Curriculum vitae.
