Job description

Job Purpose:
The Architect is a licensed design professional responsible for leading any or all phases of architectural project development, including programming, conceptual design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. This role ensures design intent, technical accuracy, and project delivery standards are met, while collaborating with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead the technical design of architectural projects, ensuring cohesive integration of all building systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive design and construction documentation.
  • Research and evaluate materials; consult with manufacturers as needed.
  • Develop interior and exterior details with a solid understanding of building codes, specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Create and manage project work plans; delegate tasks, provide guidance and review work of Job Captains and Architectural Associates.
  • Provide code analysis and technical support to project teams.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules to meet both client and company goals.
  • Coordinate with engineering consultants; review drawings and ensure alignment with project scope and schedule.
  • Research requirements for plan review submittals to the authorities having jurisdiction and prepare those submittals. Review project with permitting officials and address code comments.
  • Support construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, preparing sketches and addenda, conducting site visits, and generating punch lists.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels including the owner, contractors, consultants, and team members.
  • Assist with fee development and time estimation for client RFPs.
  • Maintain organized project files. Compile record CD file of drawings at project milestones. Document all communications with outside parties. Document and distribute all critical project information to appropriate team members and outside parties.
  • Mentor and support staff development through training and knowledge sharing.
  • Travel may be required for site visits, field verifications, and project meetings.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Education / Licenses / Certifications:
Bachelor of Architecture, or Master of Architecture from an accredited institution.
Licensed architect, in good standing, in minimum of one state.
Experience:
Minimum of five to ten years of experience working in a production role in hotel, restaurant, retail, senior living or projects with similar requirements.
Skills/Abilities:
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (minimum five years active Revit project experience).
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
Experience using rendering tools such as SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or Lumion.
Strong understanding of construction means and methods.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to present effectively to clients, review boards, and stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience working with consultants and permitting officials.
Solid understanding of building codes and ability to create sound construction details.
Ability to prepare and review specifications.
Comfortable discussing engineering concepts with consultants and owners.
Ability to interpret client programs and translate them into functional, creative architectural designs.
Self-motivated and accountable with a collaborative mindset.
