Job description

The Analyst II supports the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) by performing complex analytical, regulatory, and administrative assignments essential to the Commission's licensing, event oversight, procurement, HR support, and program operations. Under the direction of the Assistant Executive Officer and Executive Officer, the Analyst II ensures compliance with Commission statutes, regulations, and policies; maintains effective communication with staff, promoters, licensees, and stakeholders; and provides critical analytical support that enables the Commission to safeguard athlete health and safety and uphold the integrity of regulated combative sporting events. Working Conditions
Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview. However, they must reside in the State of California once they are hired and start working.
Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee's monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period as outlined on "Section 2113 - Personal Leave Program (PLP)" of the CalHR Manual. The incumbent works 40 hours per week in an office setting with artificial lighting and controlled temperature. Daily work requires the use of a personal computer, telephone, and standard office equipment. The position requires bending and stooping to retrieve files and the occasional lifting of 10 to 15 pounds. Sitting and standing are consistent with typical office duties. The incumbent may also be required to travel within an assigned geographic area using various methods of transportation.

The Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) protects and serves California consumers while ensuring a competent and fair marketplace. DCA educates consumers and protects professionals from unfair competition by unlicensed practitioners.
DCA is a unique and dynamic department consisting of 36 different boards, bureaus, a commission, and a program that license and regulate more than 3.4 million licensees in more than 280 license types including certificates, registrations, and permits. The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) regulates professional and amateur combat sports to protect the health and safety of athletes and ensure events are conducted in compliance with State laws and regulations. The Commission oversees licensing, event approval, regulatory enforcement, and administrative support functions necessary to operate a statewide public safety regulatory program. The Analyst II position is part of the Commission's administrative and regulatory support unit, working closely with the Executive Officer, Assistant Executive Officer, licensees, promoters, and industry stakeholders to ensure the integrity, compliance, and effectiveness of Commission operations.
