Job Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Warehouse Utility I is a versatile role responsible for being cross-trained to cover multiple areas in the warehouse. This position is essential for supporting daily operations through manual sortation, facility maintenance, and equipment operation depending on the facility's needs. You will be tasked with maintaining high-quality standards for pallets and other materials while ensuring a safe and clean work environment. Pay Rate:
  • Range: $19.00 - $22.00 an hour
  • Starting pay: $19.00 an hour
  • Guaranteed Progression:50-cent per hour increases at 90 days, 1 year, and annually thereafter for a total of 5 years, reaching the maximum rate at 5 years in this role.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Warehouse Utility I, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Sorting materials: Organize pallets, RPCs, boxes, or other materials by hand or with machine assistance in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Operating Baler: Manage cardboard recycling by swapping totes, tracking damage counts, operating the baler, and coordinating bale removal.
  • Quality Painting: Ensure quality painting of pallets and the proper use of painting equipment.
  • Maintenance: Maintain a clean work environment by sweeping debris around warehouse and dock areas.
  • Inspection: Inspect items while sorting to ensure criteria are met and maintain an established rate per man-hour.
  • Vendor Processing: Sort items by vendor and process them at an established rate per hour.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety, Propak, and PLA policies and procedures.
  • Versatility: Complete other duties as assigned to support and improve overall team operations.
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience: Previous experience in manual labor or warehouse environments preferred.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to be cross-trained in multiple areas, including forklift operation and facility maintenance.
  • Stamina: Ability to stand, bend, and lift materials for 8 to 10 hours.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately count materials and inspect items for quality standards.
  • Reliability: Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Capable of repeatedly lifting and moving materials, which may be heavy.
  • Requires good manual dexterity for sorting and processing items at an established rate.
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and safety alarms in a warehouse environment.
  • Excellent vision for inspecting materials and observing surroundings for safety.
Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work in a warehouse environment. This may include exposure to dust, fluctuating temperatures (hot and cold), and moderate to high noise levels. Steel-toed boots and other personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required.
