Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY
Provide leadership and supervision for the Energy and Professional Services organization. Manage the development of both new and existing professional services. Implement business development goals and develop plans and metrics to drive achievement of those goals. Identify innovative professional services opportunities to benefit the public and public power through related projects and programs. Research prospective new projects and programs, pursue leads, and interface with prospective customers interested in pursuing new opportunities. Provide oversight for implementation and management of new projects and programs as assigned. Oversee and manage budgets for typical project, program, and business line development ranging from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of millions for larger projects. Oversee and manage the development and implementation of programs and requirements for professional services projects. Supervise staff activities; provide leadership, guidance, work management and administration of the Energy and Professional Services organization.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop new professional services products or service ideas and opportunities and oversee their development to the point of implementation.
  • Interface with member utilities and other outside entities through established or self-initiated opportunities
  • Identify member utility and other market/customer needs and opportunities and represent Energy Northwest as a solution source
  • Lead development of new project or service ideas to solid concepts and implementation
  • Lead development of cost/benefit and risk evaluations and presentations to appropriate review boards and management.

Provide oversight for all phases of project/program development for new professional services including but not limited to: engaging appropriate EN departments; preparation of project proposals and term sheets; formation and leadership of project teams; hiring of outside technical and environmental consultants; identification and development of project sites; management of the procurement of equipment and services; arrangement of project financing; coordination with the applicable organizations for cost projections and project transition plans and checklists; and arranging for construction management services.
Participate in the strategic planning and risk assessment efforts for ES&D in collaboration with Business Support team. Draft, review, and negotiate diverse contracts, leases, waivers, releases, financing documents, and other documents on behalf of ES&D. Assist in the development of business case studies including net present value, cost/benefit analysis, breakeven analysis, benchmarking, industry trend analysis and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis as basis for decisions to start, expand or reduce business lines/services.
Manages employees using established Energy Northwest policies, procedures, and practices. Communicates a common vision consistent with that of the leadership team. Review and approve (per procedure) the work generated by department personnel. Encourage and provide training and development for staff personnel to assure high performance, opportunity to progress and maintain good morale in the organization. Make recommendations/review promotions, salary changes, transfers and terminations. Resolve personnel issues, allocate work, review and approve procedures, assist and train subordinates as necessary.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university and six years of relevant progressive experience, including at least five years in business development.
OR
An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and eight years of relevant progressive experience, including at least five years in business development.
OR
In lieu of degree, requires a high school diploma/GED and ten years of relevant progressive experience, including at least five years in business development.
Pay Range
$145,302.00 - $217,952.00 Annual
Midpoint:
$181,627.00
Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
