Job description

Valiant is looking for a DTT Protection SME to join our team! This position is a full time Exempt (salary) position, supporting the ARNG Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP). Doctrinal Training Team SMEs support ARNG unit commanders and staff, battalion through division providing doctrinal workshops, over the shoulder training and coaching during individual and collective event support at unit designated training sites. The Multi-Domain Protection SME is responsible for collective training to include the participation in exercise design, planning, preparation, execution, and assessment activities. Assists in the development of scenarios, script writing, tactical orders, and other supporting JELC products.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Responsible for planning and delivering all sixteen of the Protection WFF tasks for Brigade to Division levels in support of the training audience during live, virtual, constructive, and gaming collective training.
  • Is proficient in current Army Protection (MP, Chemical, ADA, Engineer) doctrine and processes, and able to identify new and emerging Army and Joint Protection doctrine
  • Familiar and capable of providing risk management and development of protection priorities through critical and defended assets list over-the-should support for Protection cells and the following C2 Information Systems: AMDWS, CPOF, CPCE.
  • Develops scheme maneuver support and protection products in addition to producing OPORD essential elements of friendly information, CAL, DAL, ANNEX E (Protection) and ANNEX G (Engineer) products to facilitate training.
  • Capable of replicating the functions of higher HQs within the Protection WFF to Battalion through Division training audiences (Protection WGs and HICOM products to drive training).
  • Will compile data and inputs from multiple sources, to enhance subject matter expertise (SME) support and training.
  • Provide SME in determination of risk assessments and vulnerability assessments processes to ARNG at level organized. Train Protection staff to develop mitigating solutions for identified threats and advocate implementation of DoD programs and objectives.
  • Acts as an advisor, trainer, and SME for Brigade through Division units during planning through execution to include After Action Review (AAR) of MCTSP supported collective events.
  • Plans, coordinates, prepares, and conducts FTXs, CPXs, STAFFEXs, Fires EXs, LOGEXs, Digital COMMEXs, Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) workshops, Command Post (CP) proficiency training and other supporting events associated with these events.
  • Plans for and executes doctrinally current STAFFEXs for ARNG Division to Battalions to provide commanders and staffs the opportunity to develop and apply war-fighting skills using the framework of the MDMP.
  • Develops doctrinally current training materials including higher command operations orders, reports, briefings and leads requested workshops.
  • Coaches, teaches, and trains units Over the Shoulder during the conduct of exercises to assist the commander in achieving their training objectives.
  • Plans for and executes constructive events in coordination with other elements of the MCTSP for ARNG units, to provide commanders and staffs the opportunity to exercise operations orders developed in STAFFEXs.
  • Provides honest and relevant on-site feedback to unit Commanders and appropriate staff members in the form of informal discussions.
  • Prepares or provides input into the Final Exercise Report (FER) that addresses the planning, preparation, and execution of each fully executed DTT events.
  • Will develop theater specific scripting of master scenario events list (MSEL), or simulation control injects that are integrated with and support training exercises, and constructive staff training in a live-virtual-constructive environment. May serve in HICOM role during exercises.
  • Will conduct in-depth research on evolving doctrine, theater specific operations, lessons learned, and newly developed tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) used in the development of MSEL, or simulation control injects that accurately replicate the operational environment that the training is designed for. Must determine the appropriate exercise inject methods and entry point in an overall storyboard for the event.
  • Leading up to and during Collective events, must synchronize the capabilities of MTC training capabilities assets.
  • Analyzes progress and develop necessary recovery plans and/or alternatives.
  • Ensures adherence to company and Site Policies, Practices and Procedures.
  • Safeguard and maintain company and Government furnished equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Coordinate required safety information through direct coordination with government leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Government and contract guidelines, regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Report directly to the DTT Lead.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SECURITY REQUIREMENT: Active Secret
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • BA/BS
  • MA/MS (Preferred).
  • Completion of the Command and General Staff College or equivalent level military schooling (Preferred).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2+ years' working within WFF area Army Command and Control Information Systems.
  • 6+ years' combined staff experience within the WFF. Or eight (8) years' specialized MCTSP experience in this type of duty position.
  • Must have previous senior Army or ARNG leadership experience with a training management background and preferably, Combat Training Center (CTC) experience.
  • Primary staff experience in the WFF at Battalion or higher.
  • Previous Battalion or higher commander preferred (or similar).
  • Recent experience working within the Army National Guard training support system, or a similar system.
  • Available to support overtime and travel as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees. Office environment, occasionally outdoors. Occasional exposure to natural conditions existing at different locations around the US.
