Overview: This individual will provide a safe working and shopping experience to patrons of Scheels through the reduction and deterrence of loss. The Asset Protection Associate will assist all Scheels' associates in fulfilling Scheels customer service and safety standards, while maintaining a discreet, professional, presence in Scheels stores.
Responsibilities: Asset Protection- Communicate with leadership regarding encounters and investigations
- Maintain a professional relationship with local authorities and law enforcement agencies
- Collaborate with law enforcement and other local retailers to identify organized retail crime threats
- Assist leadership with cash handling and transfers
- Observe customers and associates for potential acts of theft or fraud
- Taking appropriate action to prevent theft, apprehending individuals engaged in theft activity when prevention is not effective
- Conducting surveillance and apprehension of external theft suspects in compliance with company ethical standards and apprehension guidelines
- Monitor video via CCTV and conduct on-site interviews
- Maintaining all apprehension and investigation records according to company standards
- Developing and maintaining knowledge and use of CCTV surveillance equipment
- Assisting in monitoring store compliance with company policies and procedures relating to theft deterrence, safety, and operational controls, as assigned by the supervisor
- Maintain a high visible deterrent to crime and positively influence the security incident rate as well as assist with inventory controls
Safety - Help mitigate security risks to provide a safer environment for employees and customers
- Welcome all customers, visitors, and vendors professionally and assist them in locating staff within the stores
- Issue electric handicapped shopping carts to customers and assist in obtaining wheelchairs and shopping carts
- Examine and properly tag property being brought into the stores including personal property, equipment for service, and firearms
- Watch facilities and parking areas on foot. Direct traffic during special events or heavy customer traffic, while enforcing parking regulations
- Make regularly scheduled floor and exterior walks to ensure the safety and security of the customers and facility
- Complete monthly reports on safe or non-safe practices found on the sales floor or backstocks
First Responder- Help customers and staff with vehicle break-downs and lock-outs and retrieve shopping carts from parking areas
- React as necessary and assist in handling any situations - shoplifting, medical emergencies, and inclement weather
- Ability to work assigned schedules which may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Wage: $17 Per Hour.
Schedule: Must be available to work between the hours of 9am to 9pm Monday through Friday and be able to work on an every other weekend rotation. Schedule may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, must be available a minimum of two weekends a month. Average hours per week is 20 hours.

Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED College graduate preferred
- Proven track record of strong communication and organization skills
- Preference for candidates with prior Loss prevention (2-3 years)
- Currently certified or willing to become certified in CPR and OC (Oleoresin Capsicum aka pepper spray) foam deployment
Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:
Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.
Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
