How much do asset manager jobs pay per year?
What is an asset manager?
An asset manager oversees the investment of the financial assets of a company or individual. While the title most commonly refers to financial investors, it can apply to real estate as well. Typically, you work for an investment firm, managing assets for their roster of clients. As an asset manager, your specific duties vary by the exact position, but your responsibilities center on guiding investment decisions, which involves staying abreast of market trends. You may also be responsible for updating financial policies. Asset management means you must work in the best interests of your employer or client. You are expected to handle money responsibly and have excellent communication skills, providing periodic reports to keep the client informed. You typically work as either a financial or real estate asset manager, so having experience with a relevant firm is crucial.

Job description
Sia is a next-generation, global management consulting group. Founded in 1999, we were born digital. Today our strategy and management capabilities are augmented by data science, enhanced by creativity and driven by responsibility. We're optimists for change and we help clients initiate, navigate and benefit from transformation. We believe optimism is a force multiplier, helping clients to mitigate downside and maximize opportunity. With expertise across a broad range of sectors and services, our 3,000 consultants serve clients worldwide from 48 locations in 19 countries. Our expertise delivers results. Our optimism transforms outcomes.
Strategy & Management Consulting
Financial Institutions have drastically changed over the last decade, driven by increased regulatory constraints, diverse competition inside and beyond traditional banking organizations, and emerging technologies reshaping long-standing ecosystems. Sia's Financial Services Business Unit provides a comprehensive suite of core capabilities designed to address the diverse and evolving needs of our clients, enabling them to navigate complex challenges, seize new opportunities, and achieve their strategic objectives in an increasingly competitive and dynamic business environment.
As a Manager supporting our Wealth & Asset Management practice, you will lead client engagements focused on strategy, operating model transformation, AI, data and technology modernization across global asset managers, custodians and institutional banks and providers.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in wealth and asset management operations (e.g., trade lifecycle, post-trade processing, middle office, or data management) combined with strong consulting, stakeholder management, and delivery leadership capabilities.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you are expected to:
Demonstrate Wealth & Asset Management Operations Expertise: Bring strong working knowledge of wealth and asset management operations, including client and account onboarding, Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering processes, portfolio administration, trade support, cash and asset movements, custody, fund and portfolio accounting, asset servicing, fee processing, reconciliations and exception management, performance reporting, and client servicing.
Apply Knowledge of Financial Markets, Products & Client Solutions: Understand the operational requirements associated with wealth and asset management products and services, including equities, fixed income, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, separately managed accounts, alternative investments, retirement products, trusts, managed portfolios, lending products, cash management, and custody services.
Translate Technical Concepts into Business Solutions: Explain complex wealth and asset management operational concepts in a clear and practical manner for senior business, advisory, investment, operations, technology, risk, compliance, and regulatory stakeholders.
Understand the End-to-End Client and Investment Lifecycle: Identify how evolving client expectations, investment products, digital capabilities, and service models affect front-to-back processes, including client acquisition and onboarding, account setup and maintenance, suitability and investment restrictions, portfolio construction, trade execution and settlement, asset servicing, fee billing, performance measurement, client reporting, and integration with legacy platforms.
Navigate Regulatory, Risk & Control Considerations: Understand the regulatory and control environment surrounding wealth and asset management operations, including fiduciary obligations, suitability, client protection, custody, books and records, privacy, financial crime compliance, operational risk, third-party risk, business resiliency, data governance, and supervisory expectations.
Shape Client Solutions & Delivery Approaches: Support clients in defining wealth operation strategies, use cases, business cases, implementation roadmaps, vendor or platform considerations, pilot design, testing approaches, and adoption plans.
Support Business Development: Support management with expansion of client opportunities through account knowledge, cross-selling, proposal development, commercial discussions, and relationship building across new and existing clients.
Coach & Develop Teams: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate consultants, set clear goals, provide feedback, address team challenges, and contribute to recruiting and capability-building efforts.
Contribute to Firm Leadership: Share knowledge and best practices, support internal initiatives, represent Sia externally, and serve as a role model for consultants through professionalism, ownership, and leadership by example.
These qualifications are intended to reflect what may help a candidate succeed as an Manager at Sia. We recognize that candidates may not meet every qualification listed, and we encourage you to apply if you are excited about the role, eager to learn, and believe you can contribute to our teams and clients.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business or Engineering or a related field; master's degree preferred.
Relevant Experience: 7+ years of relevant work experience in management consulting or industry in Wealth Management / Asset Management or relevant roles in Financial Services, including Investment Banking, Sales and Trading, Fixed Income, Equities, Middle Office or Asset Servicing.
Direct, working knowledge of wealth and asset management operations, platforms, and vendor solutions across portfolio management, IBOR/ABOR, OMS/EMS, trading and middle-office workflows, custody, performance and attribution, alternatives, ETFs, managed accounts, reconciliations, exceptions, and operational controls.
Strong industry knowledge across wealth and asset management, with the ability to confidently discuss wealth platforms, SMA/UMA models, investment operations, trading workflows, AI use cases, and operating model transformation.
Sales & Business Development: Proven ability to originate new business opportunities and create new revenue streams by identifying client needs, developing relationships, shaping consulting solutions, and converting opportunities into sold work.
Consulting Skillset: Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, attention to detail, ownership, teamwork, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
