Intersect develops, constructs, and operates the most ambitious power and data center infrastructure in the country by co-locating industrial demand with dedicated gas and renewable power generation.

Intersect was acquired by Google in March 2026 and operates as an independent subsidiary. We are developing and constructing multiple gigawatts of energy and data center projects in the U.S., enabling more data center and generation capacity to come online faster. We're on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet.

Location & Team Gatherings

We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed location.

We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.


About This Role

Intersect is hiring a mid-to-senior attorney (7-10 years) to support the operations and performance of a portfolio of energy assets, with a strong focus on data center-integrated, behind-the-meter, and hybrid (solar, wind, storage, gas) projects. This role will report to the General Counsel and work closely with the Company's Operations and Asset Management teams.

Team Overview

Our Legal team supports the full lifecycle of the company's energy and infrastructure platform, including corporate governance, project development, construction, operations, and strategic transactions. The team partners closely with all business units to manage risk, enable execution, and support the growth of a complex portfolio spanning renewable energy, storage, and behind-the-meter data center solutions.

What You'll Do


Asset Management & Operations

  • Advise on day-to-day operations of solar, storage, gas, and data center-linked assets.

  • Interpret and advise on key agreements, including interconnection agreements, O&M agreements, and Shared Facilities Agreements.

  • Partner with Asset Management to translate technical field issues into enforceable legal positions.

  • Advise on performance-related matters, including outages, dispatch of assets, warranty enforcement, regulatory compliance, insurance recovery, and contract enforcement.

  • Develop playbooks that support Asset Management in enforcing claims and preserving long-term contractual rights, including warranty rights.

  • Collaborate with Transactional Legal and Project Finance to ensure projects are operated in compliance with financing agreements.

  • Draft and negotiate agreements supporting project operations, including vendor agreements, O&M agreements, change orders, and amendments, with a focus on allocating risk away from the owner.

Regulatory (Operations-Focused)

  • Advise on operational compliance with FERC, ERCOT, PUCT, SPP, and other applicable ISO/RTO requirements, including filings and regulatory inquiries.

  • Coordinate with the Corporate Attorney on cross-functional regulatory matters, including operational and trading compliance.

Support Across Business Units

  • Collaborate with the broader Legal team to support projects throughout the full lifecycle, from development through operations.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in both an in-house legal department and a law firm supporting operational and regulatory compliance for utility-scale renewable energy projects, including data centers and behind-the-meter structures.

  • Significant experience advising on operational compliance matters, including deep familiarity with FERC, ERCOT, PUCT, SPP, and other ISOs/RTOs.

  • Experience supporting projects integrating natural gas facilities and/or backup natural gas generation.

  • Experience supporting energy projects across the full lifecycle and familiarity with major project agreements.

  • 7-10 years of experience acting as a translator between engineering teams, commercial asset managers, and legal requirements.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited institution and active bar membership in the United States.

  • 7-10 years of experience as a practicing attorney focused on renewable energy, data centers, and asset management.

  • Must be based in Austin, TX.
