Job Summary
Magnolia Capital is looking for a highly motivated and entrepreneurial minded self-starter to fill an open Analyst, Asset Management and Operations position within the firm’s Multifamily group. This is a high visibility and high impact position for a cutting edge, fast growing private equity multifamily firm. We are seeking candidates who are highly intelligent, adaptable, creative, and like to be part of a team that seeks to solve hard problems which disrupt the status quo in the industry. In this position, you will work closely with senior and executive leadership across all business verticals, including investments, asset management, operations, and technology departments to identify, solve, and execute on tactical strategic initiatives. The Analyst will be expected to dissect unique business cases, aggregate, and analyze data from disparate sources, articulate thoughtful recommendations, and implement proposed solutions to drive strategic growth aligned with corporate goals.
The position is based out of Magnolia Capital's HQ in Chicago, IL.
Essential Job Duties
  • Collaborate with key corporate and property level stakeholders to identify business needs, prioritize solutions, develop standard operating procedures, and champion adoption of business initiatives.
  • Assist with the integration and implementation of proprietary software and leading 3rd party technology to create alpha for Magnolia’s Investment, Asset Management, Operations, and Centralized Operations platforms.
  • Prepare complex analyses of key performance indicators to identify operational trends, derive actionable insights and propose solutions for enhancing property and portfolio financial outcomes.
  • Contribute to new business development and fundraising efforts fueling corporate growth and AUM.
  • Generate annual budgets and business plans, perform financial variance analyses, track industry benchmarks, and collaborate with onsite property teams to ensure to defined performance goals are met/exceeded.
  • Consolidate regular and ad-hoc reporting packages, communicate performance results, and manage relationship with external investor partners.
  • Partner with internal teams across Operations, Revenue Management, Marketing, Capital Projects, Design, HR, and Technology to drive outperformance to investment underwriting.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Real Estate
  • Preference for 1-2 years of internship experience in a Real Estate Investment, Asset Management, or similar function.
  • Familiarity with the general principles of real estate, including operations and analysis, budgeting, financial reporting, value creation, property management and general accounting.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI, Outlook).
  • Excellent time management, and ability to identify process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, while maintaining accuracy and quality of work product.
  • Strong self-starter that thrives in a fast paced, dynamic environment with multiple and evolving priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively problem solve and work both collaboratively and independently as warranted.
  • Ability to lead a project team to achieve desired outcomes both in-person and in a virtual setting.
  • Openness and eagerness to learn quickly and take on additional responsibility.
Base Salary Range
The expected base salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $75,000. The actual salary offered may differ based on several factors, such as education and experience. Additionally, this role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
