Job description

Lead Credit Officer In Asset Based Lending Credit Risk

As a Lead Credit Officer in Asset Based Lending Credit Risk, you will be part of the firm's risk governance framework and a critical member of the risk management team. The Asset Based Lending team primarily provides working capital revolving lines of credit and fixed asset loans to corporate clients. Credit Officers on the Investment Bank Asset Based Lending team manage a portfolio of accounts and underwrite new business transactions.

Job Responsibilities

This role will support the ABL Credit Team

  • Manage portfolio of ABL clients, monitor financial performance trends, borrowing base trends, and covenant compliance and lead credit relationship with client and internal stakeholders
  • Perform due diligence for loans, derivatives, leases, and cash management including: financial due diligence, financial modeling, field exam, appraisal, and legal diligence
  • Assign and assess internal ratings, risk assessment and risk mitigation. Recommend changes in structure or account management strategy to address negative trends.
  • Interpret collateral appraisals and field exams. Ongoing monitoring of collateral trends and liquidity, establishing reserves and recommending appropriate course of action to address issues
  • Lead ABL credit structuring and legal document negotiations, as well as point person on amendments and waivers
  • Effectively challenge Banking Teams, partner with ABL Originations and Syndications, Debt Capital Markets, Treasury Services, Equipment Finance, Derivatives, and Loan Operations
  • Communicate with Senior Management, respond to regulatory requests, and maintain internal credit files
  • Train and mentor junior team members

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 5+ years' experience in commercial banking, credit risk, portfolio management and underwriting with Asset Based Lending financing knowledge
  • Strong understanding of capital markets, financing structures, derivatives and cash management products as well as related documentation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - both written and verbal
  • Ability to think critically and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship development skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal credit training program a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
