Job description

Department: Assembly Team 2
Referral Bonus: $500.00 USD
Summary
The Assembly Team Lead coordinates the daily activities for all trades within a team to construct each assigned project. The Lead supports the Assembly Supervisor regarding team development, time approval, and productivity. Ensures assigned deliverables are completed per project schedules. Focused on the completion of assembly work accurately, within budget, and to a high-quality standard. When absent, acts as the primary backup to the Assembly Supervisor.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
Control
  • Direct the assembly team, based on Technical Specialist and Engineering input, to efficiently construct the project per drawings, other engineering deliverables, and the Assembly build Sequence (ABS)
  • Identify and inform the supervisor(s) of any headcount adjustments based upon workload for the given week(s).
  • Support the Assembly Supervisor as needed for regular/periodic meetings regarding assembly operations.
  • Coach team members to achieve consistency across single design multi-build projects and similar products.
  • In the Supervisor's absence, Approve labor hours in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with the Assembly Supervisor, planning team and management to create contingency plans and revised assembly target dates as necessary to meet customer expectations.

Accountability
  • Monitor team technical expertise levels to provide feedback and coordinate with the Assembly Supervisor and the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure participation in applicable training.
  • Support and be a positive example of the 6S program.
  • Provide feedback to Manufacturing Engineering regarding Assembly Build Sequences (ABS), planned hours and duration.
  • Manage activities with internal functional areas to support internal or external customer changes.
  • Completion and proper sign-off of the GPS Traveler for each module/project.
  • Coordinate with Material Control, Fabrication, and Paint to prioritize material deliveries to the floor.
  • Enforcement of safety protocols and programs such as AWARE Cards, Take5, JSA, JRA's and safety topics.

Influence
  • Coordinate with the Manufacturing Engineering group and Senior Supervisor(s) to schedule trade meeting events and training in a timely manner (prior to the needed skill or increased demands).
  • Provide feedback to the Assembly Supervisor(s) regarding headcount requirements, resource capabilities and skill levels,
  • Suggest the direct hire of contract employees based on resource demands and skill level, as applicable.
  • Technical Specialists to achieve realistic and efficient ABS plans and layouts.
  • Provide feedback to other Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, and other team members regarding potential process improvements.

Required Support
  • Supervisor and Technical Specialist to assign levels to employees.
  • Safety - to investigate an incident or to bring awareness of incidents outside of the facility that could potentially impact the team.

Engineering Support
  • Provide direction to resolve project issues based on recommendations from Assembly.
  • Approval to initiate unit testing.
  • Information related to customer delivery requirements, allowing for plant load balancing and overtime management.
  • Provide clarity to any engineering deliverables or related questions.
  • Supply Chain, Material Coordinators and Planning to provide accurate and timely updates regarding material delivery status.
  • Material Control and Receiving assistance to deliver materials in a timely manner and aid with heavy lift operations.
  • Material specialists to coordinate with Assembly Supervisors, allowing successful transfer of custody for each project.
  • Planning department to maintain accurate project and plant schedules.

Qualifications
  • 5-10 years' experience packaging natural gas equipment.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to interpret engineering drawings such as P&IDs, General Arrangements, and Electrical drawings.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Basic familiarities with ERP systems, such as SAP Project Systems (PS) and Production Planning (PP)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be dependable, highly motivated, self-directed, have attention to detail, and have great organizational skills with a minimum amount of daily direct supervision.
