Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Mechanical Assembler that will be responsible for performing a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical assembly operations which may include skilled hand work or utilizing automated production equipment. Comprehends and interprets a variety of technical specifications, terms and documents. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units. Make setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications.

Essential Functions:

  • Basic computer skills
  • The ability to learn Avionics MFG
  • Assemble mechanical parts and subassemblies using hand tools.
  • Read and follow work instructions, drawings, parts lists, and standard procedures.
  • Install hardware such as CCAs, frames, covers, fasteners, mounts according to specifications.
  • Perform basic fitting, alignment, and adjustment of components to ensure proper assembly.
  • Check parts and materials before installation to confirm correct part numbers, quantities, and configuration.
  • Use basic measuring and torque tools to meet assembly requirements and tolerances.
  • Handle components and assemblies safely during the build process.
  • Assist with mechanical assembly tasks that support electrical installation and cable routing as needed.
  • Inspect finished work for quality, completeness, and proper workmanship; report any problems or damaged parts.
  • Complete required production records, checklists, and assembly documentation accurately.
  • Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and tool-control procedures.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and in compliance with housekeeping standards.
  • Help with packaging, labeling, pallet preparation, and movement of finished assemblies when needed.
  • Work with team leaders, quality staff, and engineering support to address basic assembly issues.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Perform other related assembly duties as assigned to meet production needs.

Qualifications:ย 

  • Requires highly developed job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/associate's degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with setup and operation of Thermal Injection Machines.
  • Avionics MFG experience
  • Experience using standard hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and measuring devices
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain workmanship, quality, and safety standards
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
