Description
The assembly operator oversees and operates machines necessary to swage cable, to perform cable end treatments, to swage fittings, to cut or trim cable, to grind assemblies to length and to assemble cable components. Counts packages and labels completed cable assemblies. This position is responsible to maintain acceptable production outputs and quality of wire/cable assembly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Takes and follows directions from both, operational performance and job requirements from Supervisors, Facilitators on a job by job basis.
  • Clear area of previous job materials.
  • Completes job cards, routers and job documentation as required.
  • Operates lathes, welders, presses, grinders, cable cutters, swagers, packaging equipment and other equipment necessary to manufacture cable assemblies.
  • Maintains material traceability by completing records of materials usage for each job.
  • Monitors and performs visual and tactile inspection of assembled parts.
  • Performs proof-loading of assembled parts.
  • Gathers samples for start-up and in-process testing and inspection.
  • Packages and labels processed material according to job card instructions.
  • Reports part or process quality issues to their supervisor or any quality personnel.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements
  • Prior experience is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrates ability to self-motivate and to problem solve in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have good documentation practice.
  • A proven understanding of part workmanship.
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing defects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to seek and accept feedback from others.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English preferred but not required.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Working conditions:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, fumes or airborne particles.
  • The noise level in the work environment is occasionally high requiring safety equipment to be utilized.

Physical requirements:
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Candidate must be able to perform the physical responsibilities of the job utilizing arms, hands, and fingers to perform complex functions of manufacturing parts and performing other duties of the job; e.g. standing, sitting, walking throughout the facility and stairs.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Pay: $18.00-$18.00/hour
