Job description


Pella is seeking a full-time Warehouse Associate to work in the Geneva, IL warehouse. This position is responsible for maintaining Pella processes with regard to the productivity, efficiency and safety of the warehouse. Daily responsibilities include coordination of warehouse product and working with radio frequency scanners. Receives, stores, and distributes material, supplies, equipment, and products within the company by performing documented duties. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a warehouse, have forklift experience, inventory scanner experience, and be comfortable operating a stand-up reach truck. This is a full-time onsite union role with a Monday - Friday 6AM - 2:30PM schedule.
The starting hourly rate is $23.36, with an increase after 3 months. This role offers company paid health benefit premiums and a union pension plan.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Comply with safety, quality and warehouse requirements and procedures.
  • Must be able to follow standard work and adhere to Pella Safe Operating Procedures.
  • Must be capable of performing all general warehouse positions.
  • Pull and load outbound trucks. Read load lists, production schedules, and requisitions, shipping orders to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Receive and unload inbound trucks, verify load lists, and move materials and items to locations, production, service, office or other designated areas.
  • Sort and place warehouse materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as order number, size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, marking materials with identifying information.
  • Arrange stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers.
  • Use computer to verify order information and completion, such as expected receipt date, product type, color, or quantity.
  • Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications for shipping.
  • Pass and maintain Power Industrial Vehicle (PIV) certification & Drive/Operate material handling equipment (i.e. cherry picker, forklift).
  • Operate radio frequency scanners.
  • Prepare parcels for truck delivery, small package delivery or mail.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) required. Six months to one year related experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL and/or TECHNICAL SKILLS
Ability to subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume and distance. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions percentages, area, circumference, length, width, height, time, and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
