Position Description
PCM Services is a commercial contractor based in Beltsville, MD, serving the DC/Baltimore metro area. We are seeking a hardworking and dependable Asphalt Lute Man to join our Asphalt Division. This position is responsible for assisting with asphalt paving operations by distributing, leveling, and smoothing asphalt material to ensure proper grade, depth, and finish. The ideal candidate will have experience working on paving crews, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities
  • Spread, level, and smooth asphalt using a lute and other hand tools.
  • Assist with asphalt paving operations to ensure proper grade and surface consistency.
  • Work closely with the paving crew and equipment operators during paving activities.
  • Correct low spots, high spots, and uneven surfaces to achieve a quality finished product.
  • Rake and distribute asphalt around structures, curbs, manholes, and other obstacles.
  • Assist in preparing surfaces for paving and patching operations.
  • Monitor material placement and communicate with crew members to maintain productivity and quality standards.
  • Follow project specifications and foreman instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform general labor duties as needed to support paving operations.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.

Position Requirements

  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required.
