In summary, Asp Net Webforms Developers focus on legacy ASP.NET Web Forms applications, while Asp Net MVC Developers work with modern MVC architecture. Both roles require similar credentials but differ in work environment and industry usage, with Webforms suited for established enterprise systems and MVC for newer, flexible web applications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ASP.NET Webforms Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an ASP.NET Webforms Developer, you need strong proficiency in C#, ASP.NET Webforms, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a solid understanding of relational databases like SQL Server, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with Visual Studio, source control systems like Git, and experience with web application frameworks and debugging tools are typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and strong communication skills help developers effectively collaborate and deliver maintainable solutions. These competencies ensure the development of robust, scalable web applications that meet organizational and user needs.

What are ASP.NET WebForms Developers?

ASP.NET WebForms Developers are software professionals who specialize in building web applications using the ASP.NET WebForms framework, a part of the Microsoft .NET platform. They design, develop, and maintain interactive web pages and applications, often for enterprise environments. Their role typically includes working with server-side technologies, writing C# or VB.NET code, and integrating databases to create dynamic, data-driven websites. ASP.NET WebForms Developers are skilled in managing the page lifecycle, event-driven programming, and ensuring the security and performance of web applications.

What are some common challenges faced by ASP.NET Webforms Developers when working on legacy applications?

ASP.NET Webforms Developers often encounter challenges such as maintaining and updating legacy codebases that may lack comprehensive documentation or use outdated patterns. Integrating modern features or UI components can require significant refactoring, and troubleshooting can be complex due to tightly coupled code and limited separation of concerns. Collaborating with QA and DevOps teams is essential to ensure that changes do not introduce regressions, and staying current with security best practices is critical when supporting older applications.

Job description

Audiense is a next-generation analytics-to-action platform that helps organizations deeply understand and strategically activate their consumers. We've brought together the strengths of three category-leading brands - Buxton, Elevar, and Audiense - into one integrated, insight-driven solution trusted by global brands across retail, CPG, eCommerce, and media.
Now we're looking for a Back End Software Engineer to help design and build the systems that power our platform. If you're passionate about solving complex problems, scaling SaaS applications, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible with data, this is your opportunity to make a global impact.
Please note that this role is a 9-12 month contract position and is 1 day per week in the Dallas, Fort Worth office.
Why Join Us?
At Audiense, engineering is more than just code - it's about creating tools that shape how businesses act on intelligence. As a Back End Engineer, you'll have the chance to:
  • Own critical systems: Design and develop scalable services and microservices that support global SaaS products.
  • Innovate with modern tools: Work with C#/.NET, AWS, Docker, and cloud-native architecture while exploring event-driven and data-heavy systems.
  • Solve complex problems: Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data teams to deliver elegant, high-performance solutions.
  • Grow your expertise: Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, and architecture discussions that push the boundaries of best practices.
  • Have global impact: Your work will directly influence how brands across industries activate insights in real time.

What You'll Do
  • Build robust and scalable back-end software in C#/.NET Framework, .NET Core, or ASP.NET.
  • Design services and system architecture that drive performance and reliability.
  • Write and maintain high-quality code with unit tests, automation, and peer reviews.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn complex requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and ensure systems are secure, scalable, and efficient.
  • Explore advanced domains like geospatial data, big data processing, and event-driven architecture.

What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of experience with C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core, or ASP.NET.
  • Proven background in building SaaS web applications and microservices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and containerization (Docker).
  • Proficiency in SQL (DML, DDL, query tuning; SQL Server preferred).
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and version control.
  • Curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a passion for building efficient, elegant systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required.
  • Bonus: Experience with geospatial analysis, large-scale data processing, or event-driven platforms.

What Success Looks Like in the First 60-90 Days
  • Contribute to Core Systems: Deliver meaningful code contributions to active projects and demonstrate proficiency in our tech stack.
  • Build for Scale: Participate in architecture discussions and help design solutions for performance and scalability.
  • Improve Quality: Introduce or enhance automated testing and contribute to stronger code review standards.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner effectively with product, design, and data teams to deliver your first features into production.
  • Demonstrate Problem-Solving: Take ownership of a technical challenge, present solutions, and execute effectively.
  • Deliver Early Wins: Provide insights or improvements (e.g., performance optimization, debugging, automation) that add measurable value.
