Laboratory Analyst - Asbestos Lab

As a Laboratory Analyst 2, your main responsibilities are to:

   Preparation and analysis of bulk materials for asbestos using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).
   Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos materials.
   Follow Standard Operating Procedures.
   Review LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work to meet TAT specifications required by the client.
   Perform quality control maintenance and analysis.
   Identify any non-routine samples and seek guidance on procedures for handling.
   Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples.
   Perform method and/or data validation
   Maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
   Assist with ordering supplies.
   Participate in internal and external audits.
   Provide general lab support and perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned

You are the ideal Laboratory Analyst 2, if you have a:

    College diploma/B.Sc. degree in Geology, Biology or Chemistry preferred or equivalent experience will be considered.
   Four or more years' experience in asbestos analysis by PLM 
   Must be able to distinguish colours in order to perform analysis.
   Dynamic, energetic, motivated individual with a "can-do" attitude and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
   Good time-management, multi-tasking and priority setting skills and are able to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
   Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
   Adaptable and flexible to a changing environment.
   Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
   Possess good computer skills; LIMS experience is an asset.
   Organized, detail-oriented with excellent record keeping skills.
   Must be able to accurately follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions.
