Job description

Build a Career Operating Equipment on Complex Environmental Projects
Winter Environmental is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support environmental remediation, demolition, industrial, and specialty contracting projects throughout the Southeast and Eastern United States.
This is a hands-on field position for an experienced equipment operator who takes pride in safely operating heavy equipment, maintaining productivity, and delivering quality work on technically challenging projects. We're looking for operators who value safety, teamwork, and professionalism while working in industrial, commercial, and government environments.
Travel is required. Company-paid travel expenses and per diem are provided when applicable.
What You'll Do
  • Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, skid steers, loaders, bulldozers, mini excavators, and other construction equipment.
  • Perform contaminated soil excavation, demolition, grading, backfilling, material handling, and site preparation.
  • Assist with environmental remediation, selective demolition, industrial demolition, and site restoration activities.
  • Read and follow project plans, utility markings, grade stakes, and supervisor direction.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Identify equipment issues and communicate maintenance needs promptly.
  • Work closely with superintendents, foremen, laborers, and project managers to maintain production schedules.
  • Load trucks, manage stockpiles, and maintain organized work areas.
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and site-specific safety requirements at all times.
  • Perform additional labor duties as needed to support project operations.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Three (3) or more years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, demolition, environmental remediation, or heavy civil projects.
  • Experience operating excavators, skid steers, loaders, and bulldozers.
  • Ability to perform grading, excavation, loading, backfilling, and material handling operations safely and efficiently.
  • Strong understanding of job site safety and equipment operation.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Southeast and Eastern United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating equipment on environmental remediation or demolition projects.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER.
  • Experience working around underground utilities and environmental controls.
