Job description

"

The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for the administration of benefits programs with regards to plan options, features, enrollment, and other requirements. This strategic position will assure compliance and working directly with vendors to provide information that is related to navigating the benefits. This role will also support the activities necessary to process payroll.


DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Serves as the subject matter expert for Captive benefits

  • Provide education and assistance with benefit programs

  • Help employees access benefit programs

  • Develop and present benefits informational material

  • Maintain accurate benefits records and completes monthly audits to reconcile

  • Resolve employee questions related to benefits plans

  • Consults with vendor partners as needed

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws

  • Assist with payroll administration and also coordinating contributions/deductions, etc.

  • Assist with other duties as assigned


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.



  • Requires education generally equivalent to a related Bachelor's Degree, from the disciplines of Business, Accounting, or Human Resources.

  • Ability to work with benefit programs, Captive, self-insured, fully insured, etc.

  • Requires a minimum of three years of similar professional Human Resources, Benefits programs, and Payroll experience.

  • Ability to work with Workday, Payroll software, and other HR platforms



  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with employees, faculty members, leadership team, vendors, and candidates.

  • Requires strong customer service

  • Proven skills in the areas of team building, time management, problem solving, conflict management, and employee relations.

  • Ability to work with confidential information.
