Job description

Project Manager — Major Construction Projects

Confidential Client | Calgary, Alberta

A growing Western Canadian construction organization is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major multi-storey project from early construction through completion. This is a Calgary-based office role with responsibility for one dedicated project and periodic travel to active sites.

The Opportunity

You will join a lean, well-supported project team delivering large concrete buildings in the seniors-care, retirement-living and institutional space. Typical projects range from approximately $85 million to $200 million and include complex building systems, structured parking, commercial kitchens, life-safety infrastructure and operationally intensive spaces.

The successful candidate will come from a general-contracting or construction-management background and will have broad exposure across the entire project lifecycle—not just one package or phase. The first project is entering excavation and site-clearing, with most tendering already complete, creating a strong onboarding point.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the full delivery of one assigned project, including cost, schedule, procurement, contracts, changes, quality and closeout.
  • Partner closely with the Site Superintendent, Project Coordinator, Construction Manager and senior leadership.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, scope alignment, contract administration and performance.
  • Maintain project budgets, forecasts, schedules and reporting using Procore and Microsoft Project.
  • Lead consultant, trade and internal coordination meetings and drive timely decisions.
  • Support commissioning, turnover and operational readiness for complex facilities.
  • Build a collaborative, accountable and solutions-oriented project culture.

What You Bring

  • Progressive Project Manager experience with a general contractor or construction manager.
  • Ideally, two completed full-cycle projects valued at $45 million to $50 million or more; an exceptional candidate with one strong full-cycle project may be considered.
  • Experience with multi-storey construction—generally four storeys or more—and preferably concrete structures.
  • Broad project exposure from tendering and procurement through construction, commissioning and closeout.
  • Experience in healthcare, long-term care, retirement living, institutional, high-rise or large multi-family construction is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of Procore and Microsoft Project.
  • A practical, hands-on leadership style suited to a collaborative and lean organization.

Why Consider This Role?

  • One Project Manager dedicated to one major project.
  • Large, technically complex work with direct access to decision-makers.
  • Supportive leadership and a team-based operating model.
  • Long-term project pipeline in a growing market.
  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.
  • Bonus potential and an employer RRSP program.

Compensation Transparency

The expected base salary range for this role is $130,000 to $145,000 annually, plus bonus potential of up to 15%. Final compensation will depend on experience, project history, technical capability, qualifications and overall fit. Relocation assistance may also be provided.
