Job description

The AAIM Lab is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to support a growing portfolio of artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives. This role is intended for a technically strong, adaptable professional who can contribute to AI/ML research and development efforts while also supporting proposals, white papers, and business development activities.
This position will play an important role in both the execution of technical work and the growth of new opportunities. The ideal candidate will bring strong AI/ML and computer science expertise, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in both project and proposal environments.
We are seeking someone who is not only technically capable, but also a strong team fit—someone who can help carry higher-level technical workload, collaborate effectively, and contribute to the long-term success of the lab.
 
Responsibilities
• Support AI/ML-focused technical efforts within the AAIM Lab
• Contribute to the design, development, and application of AI/ML solutions for research and contract efforts
• Support execution of technical projects across applied research, engineering, and data-driven initiatives
• Contribute significantly to:
  • Proposal development
  • White papers
  • Technical volumes
  • Business development and growth efforts
• Assist in shaping technical approaches for new opportunities
• Support or serve in technical lead and/or Principal Investigator-type roles, as appropriate based on qualifications and project needs
• Work closely with lab leadership to help manage higher-level technical workload
• Collaborate across teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
 
*This position is designed to be flexible, with responsibilities evolving to meet business needs and enable individual growth.
 
Requirements
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related technical field
• Active Secret clearance
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
• Strong technical background in AI/ML, computer science, or related applied engineering fields
• Experience supporting or contributing significantly to proposals, white papers, or technical business development efforts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Must be local and available to work in-office as needed
 
Preferred Qualifications
• 5–8 years of relevant experience strongly preferred
• Experience developing or applying machine learning models, data-driven systems, or AI-enabled solutions
• Experience supporting R&D, prototype development, or applied technical research
• Experience contributing to winning proposals and strategic growth initiatives
• Ability to support lead technical or Principal Investigator responsibilities
• Demonstrated versatility, adaptability, and initiative in a collaborative lab environment
