Principal Data&AI Architects are expected to provide deep business and technical expertise with focus on Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning including Data Governance and Compliance. Principal Data&AI Architects are expected to have strong general business acumen, enabling them to confidently discuss every stage of the technology adoption cycle with stakeholders ranging from the CEO down to individual contributors and should be able to bridge technical solutions to measurable business outcomes—such as revenue growth, operational efficiencies, or improved customer experiences.


OpsGuru Principal Data&AI Architects are assigned to several strategic accounts and are expected to work with their clients to become trusted technical advisors. Our Principal Architects are thought leaders and are able to guide and challenge clients in a respectful manner to ensure they receive the highest level of value from their technology investments.

Principal Architects are expected to have experience participating in the sales process, typically in a pre-sales or equivalent capacity. They will work alongside our Account Executives and Presales Architects to scope and provide SME support on creating statements of work for our clients and will be heavily involved in account management.


Principal Architects may also be required to act as team leaders and people managers for architects and engineers, and could require ~10% of your time working to support and develop a team of direct reports.


Qualification & Skills


Technical and Consulting:

The ideal candidate applying for the Principal Data&AI Architect Role has the following:

  • 7+ years of experience delivering Professional Services on major cloud providers (Amazon Web Services - must, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure - nice to have) focusing on the following programs (3 minimum):
    • Large Scale workload migrations (on prem to cloud, cloud to cloud)
    • Enterprise Data Platform modernisation
    • Modern, large scale Lakehouse Implementations
    • Data Security, Governance and Compliance
    • Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence Implementations
  • Technological Exposure:
    • Previous hands on experience with AWS (Must) , Azure / Google Cloud (Nice to have)
    • Python for Data Analytics
    • Relational databases design, tuning and migration
    • Experience with Enterprise Data Warehouses 
    • Data Lakes, Data Pipelines and ETL’s
    • Stream & Batch Processing with frameworks like Spark
    • Data modeling for both transactional and analytics
    • BI Dashboards & Data Visualizations
    • Data Quality gates, Data Lineage, Data Catalogue
    • Experience with Machine Learning and MLOps Frameworks (ex: Sagemaker)
    • Experience with Generative AI, Agentic AI and foundational models  
  • 10+ years of experience in a relevant Information Technology environment
  • A history of delivering presentations to a wide ranging audience including CxO,VP, Director level executives
  • A history of managing multiple complex projects with a wide variety of stakeholders ,simultaneously
  • Technical Pre-Sales experience with the ability to provide strong SME guidance in customer-facing sales and presales conversations.
  • Able to confidently model costs and explain the total cost of ownership model of a proposed solution.
  • A history of holding a budget and is able to model project costs and provide resourcing plans
  • A history of handling customer requests and escalations and is able to confidently resolve challenges on projects effectively and swiftly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Roles and Responsibilities


Principal Data&AI Architects are expected to provide deep business and technical expertis across Data Analytics, Data Processing, Data Governance & AI & ML areas.


As part of the role you will:

  • Report directly to OpsGuru Engineering Leadership.
  • Confidently discuss every stage of the technology adoption cycle all the way from the CEO to the developer, across multiple technical domains.
  • Assigned to a number of accounts and are expected to work with their clients to become a trusted technical advisor.
  • Thought leadership.
  • Contribute to internal and external evangelism by creating and sharing content such as blog posts, whitepapers, and case studies that highlight best practices and success stories
  • Represent OpsGuru at conferences and industry events as a speaker, panelist, or subject matter expert, as appropriate
  • Guide and challenge clients in a respectful manner to ensure they receive the highest level of value from their technology investments.
  • Provide oversight to project teams to ensure technical outcomes align to solving customer business problems within project budgets and timelines
  • Work with Engagement Managers to help manage project scope, and work with project teams and customers to help manage project expectations and delivery quality
  • Comfortably discuss budget considerations and ROI with stakeholders, ensuring clients understand how recommended technologies align with financial and strategic goals
  • Participate in the sales process, typically in a pre-sales or equivalent capacity.
  • Work alongside our Account Executives and Presales Architects to scope and provide support on creating statements of works for our clients, as well as being heavily involved in account management.


While this role is largely focused around technical and consulting based delivery directly with customers, the Principal Data&AI Architect may also be required to act as a people manager for a team of several direct reports of Architects and Engineers. This would include tasks such as having regular one-to-one meetings, having professional development and goal setting conversations, and acting as part of a communication and feedback system with your direct team. Additionally you would help to escalate administrative or project related issues brought to your attention, and provide recommendations towards performance reviews and promotions for your team.
