Job description

ATC West Healthcare is seeking a board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon for ongoing locum tenens coverage to help fill gaps in call coverage. This hospital-based role focuses on adult cardiothoracic surgical care, including complex coronary artery bypass and valve procedures, with support from experienced physician assistants and a well-established surgical team. The assignment offers a consistent 24-hour call schedule with future coverage opportunities throughout the year.

Schedule Details:

  • 24-hour call shifts
  • Seeking days of call coverage per month
  • Estimated credentialing timeframe: 30 days
  • Emergency privileging may be considered
Job Details/Responsibilities
  • Hospital-based rounding and cardiothoracic surgery coverage
  • Adult patient population only
  • Average of 1 case per day
  • Trauma Level II facility
  • 20 operating rooms onsite
  • EMR system: EPIC
  • Supported by 3 physician assistants

Required Procedures Include:

  • CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
  • Arterial revascularization using:
    • Internal mammary arteries
    • Radial artery
    • Gastroepiploic artery
  • Redo coronary revascularization with or without valve surgery
  • Pericardial window procedures
  • Heart valve repair and replacement surgery
  • Mitral valve repair
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Active Ohio medical license
  • Fellowship training required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Must be available for listed coverage dates
  • Must be proficient in all required procedures
  • Self-Query NPDB dated within 30 days of presentation required
  • EPIC experience preferred
