Job description

Spring Community Course Art Instructors (Multiple Positions)

The Office of Engagement at the Art Academy of Cincinnati is accepting applications for the contracted position of Art Instructor for teen and adult courses. Instructors can teach more than one course if applicable.

We are currently hiring a:

  • Film PhotographyInstructor
  • Tuesdays, 6-8:30 PM | March 31-May 5
  • WoodshopInstructor
  • Wednesdays, 6-8:30 PM | April 1-May 6
  • Portfolio PreparationInstructor
  • Thursdays, 6-8:30 PM | April 2-May 7

Each course consists of six two-and-a-half-hour class sessions. Details about the individual courses can be found in the linked titles above.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Communicating with the Associate Director of Engagement to coordinate instructor onboardingCreating a thorough and professional syllabus for course
  • Meeting with and communicating with the Associate Director of Engagement about materials
  • Instruction of a studio-based lesson plan with the objective of teaching specific skills to students whilealsogiving them the space to create work around the subject matter they choose  
  • Demonstrating beginner-to-advanced techniques applicable to the class
  • Challenging a class of up to 15 students with personal review of their work and facilitating peer-based review conversation or critiques
  • Creating an inclusive and respectful studio environment for all students  
  • Encouraging positive and critically supportive feedback 
  • Completing survey and assessment requirements

Experience Needed: 

  • 4-year degree in Art, Design, Education, Language, a related field OR advanced commensurate experience in a studio practice, method, media, or technique
  • Expertise in the field/medium you are applying to teach
  • Teaching experience

Compensation and Benefits: 

  • $35/hr+ planning stipend
  • Free parking during classes you teach
