Job description

Who We Are
Muse Paintbar is a guided painting experience with 26 studios across the East Coast. Acrylic paint, easels, a bar and kitchen, and a few hundred people a week who show up, some of whom are fully confident that they have no artistic ability whatsoever. They leave with a painting they're proud of, a good story, and a memorable experience. We're not a gallery, and we're not a classroom. We're a great night out that happens to involve a paintbrush.
Who Your Are
You can paint, and you can get other people to paint, which is the harder skill. You're comfortable with a mic and a room full of faces looking at you. Acrylics are second nature. You like making people laugh, and you give people the confidence to create, have fun, and enjoy the process, even if painting is completely new to them

The Role
The Art Instructor is the star of the event. You're on stage leading the painting, hosting the party, and making sure food and drinks actually land. Two hours, one canvas, and a room of people who walked in sure they couldn't do this.
What you'll own

The painting
  • Prep Muse signature paintings to our guidelines and hang the approved master above the stage before each session
  • Use provided templates to break the painting into steps a first-timer can follow
  • Lead the session start to finish, keeping the room engaged and the clock on track

The floor
  • Support painting sessions with step-by-step guidance, keeping the room engaged and on time
  • Print attendee lists, assign group seating, and set up palettes before doors open
  • Greet guests, get them to their seats, hand out aprons
  • Point guests to the menu and take care of food and drink needs at the bar and tableside
  • Check in with painters throughout the session and take additional orders
  • Help capture photos during the session for social media

The reset
  • Break down and clean up after the session so the studio is ready for whatever's next

The kitchen
  • When you're the assigned Cook, prep and plate food orders with attention to presentation and safety
  • Work the kitchen checklist, keep the space clean, and stay on top of equipment and safety standards

The team dynamic
  • As an Art Instructor, you'll be cross-trained to share the load, cover where you're needed, and keep the guest experience the priority

The Schedule
Part-time, averaging 15 to 25 hours a week. Days, evenings, and weekends, with most of the volume on nights and weekends.
What you bring
  • 2+ years of hands-on painting experience, acrylics preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a related art field preferred
  • Experience teaching or leading a group preferred
  • Prior experience in a customer-facing role
  • Strong communication, punctuality, and a real service instinct
  • Comfortable with the tech that runs a session, including mics, printers, sound systems, etc
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel up to 20% weekly
  • Flexible availability, weekends and evenings required
  • Must be 21 or older
  • TIPS and ServSafe certification (we'll train and pay for these if you don't have them)

Physical Requirements
  • Standing for long stretches
  • Stepping onto and off of elevated surfaces frequently
  • Frequent bending, reaching, moving, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Moving through the studio quickly and safely, including tight spaces and raised surfaces like the stage
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with music and large groups

What you'll enjoy
  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Paid sick time
  • TIPS and ServSafe certification covered
  • Flexible part-time scheduling
  • Free use of the studio and supplies when we're closed
  • Free gallery space to display and sell your own work without commission fees
  • Employee discount and monthly session vouchers

The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the position. It is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or physical requirements. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities of this job at any time.
