Job description

Overall Responsibility: The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for supporting the Operations Manager with planning, organizing, controlling, reporting, and managing identified projects to ensure that the goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within a prescribed time, cost, quality and contract parameters.
Essential Functions:
  1. Management, Oversight, Reporting and Accountability for Project Scope, Schedule and Budget.
  2. Act as Project Manager for the New York City (NYC) office in projects that have mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and fire alarm services.
  3. Provide technically accurate, complete electrical engineering documents to the client that adheres to all code requirements, company specifications and the engineering standards of practice. Independently analyze and develop conceptual, working, and detailed design of electrical systems for new and existing facilities. Independently develop and analyze project scope, schedule, phasing, staging, specific site issues, and pertinent code issues. Coordinate electrical designs with MEP team, building architecture, structure and systems. Coordinate and perform site surveys, submittal reviews, inspections, responds to RFIs, and generates punch lists.
  4. Project Cost Management, including the following:
    1. Monitors and reports on Project's Financial performance
    2. Provides feedback and participates in the Monthly Billing Review Meeting
    3. Monitors and proactively address project's Aged Receivables to ensure timely collections of invoices
    4. Maximizes project profitability through appropriate project budgeting/pricing, utilize resources and cost control procedures.
  5. Project Time Management, including the following:
  1. Plans, organizes, monitors, coordinates and administers the work on one or multiple projects from the planning/budget phase through the completion of the project.
  2. Develops and establishes project priorities and schedules for projects and monitor projects for compliance with the approved schedules; and schedule post-contract items prior to the expiration of the guarantee/ warranty periods.
  3. Defines procedures for management of schedules to avoid risks and provides work around schedules, as required, to keep the project within the objectives as established by the Client.
  4. Ensures adequate time is scheduled within each phase for QA/QC reviews.
  1. Project Quality Management, including the following:
    1. Ensures adherence to Arora's QA/QC Program
    2. Ensures use of Blue Beam software for QA/QC reviews
  2. Development of a Project Work Plan and Procedures.
  3. Safety:
    1. Identifies sources of safety liability, safety risk, required safety records and outline the components of the safety program manual.
  4. Risk Assessments, Identification and Avoidance
  5. Keeps Project Reporting systems current.
  6. Establishes a tracking procedure for all closeout items.
  7. Represents Arora externally to the Design Team and serves as the critical Point-of-Contact (POC) for external communication.
  8. Conducts internal team meetings to confirm progress, review issues and actions, quality and safety, and resolve questions.

Secondary Functions:
  1. Duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Needed Skills:
  1. Familiar with local building codes and their requirements.
  2. Experience in aviation and transportation is desirable. Experience with MBTA is highly preferred.
  3. Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit and Bluebeam.
  4. Proficient in MS Office, especially Word and Excel. MS Project is desirable.
  5. Background in the MEP industry preferred.
  6. Ability to prioritize tasks.
  7. Ability to work as a team member and lead by example.
  8. Ability to create and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, vendors and visitors.
  9. Detail and safety-oriented.
  10. Excellent written and spoken English.
  11. Holds a legal right to work in US.

Education/Experience/Requirements Minimum:
  1. Professional Engineering License preferred. Licensed in Massachusetts is preferred.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
  3. Minimum of 7 years progressive responsibility with project management duties.
  4. Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code.
