WisEngineering, LLC is currently interviewing candidates for an immediate or near term position with our company in support of ongoing Department of Defense programs. Candidate must be US Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.  Successful candidate will be a direct (W2) employee of WisEngineering.  
Position Title: Additive Manufacturing / Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Rock Island, IL - Field / On-Site (Up to 20% Travel)

About the Role

WisEngineering is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineer to support the design, analysis, evaluation, and field deployment of expeditionary advanced manufacturing solutions. The ideal candidate blends practical, hands-on polymer/metal 3D printing expertise with strong reverse engineering, diagnostic troubleshooting, and technical documentation capabilities.

1. Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or related discipline) from an accredited college or university.

  • Required Experience:

    • 1+ years of professional engineering experience with Additive or Advanced Manufacturing technologies.

    • 1+ years of direct, hands-on experience operating, optimizing, and maintaining polymer 3D printing systems.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Hands-on experience with metal additive manufacturing systems (e.g., LPBF, DED, or binder jetting) is highly desirable.

  • Professional & Soft Skills:

    • Proven track record of operating effectively within collaborative, multidisciplinary technical teams.

    • Strong self-direction, diagnostic problem-solving skills, and adaptability in fast-paced environments.

2. Core Tasks & Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Reverse Engineering:

    • Reverse engineer existing physical components and engineer new parts optimized specifically for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) applications.

  • Component Inspection & Analysis:

    • Inspect, review, and evaluate manufactured components to verify structural integrity, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with mission-specific requirements.

  • Equipment Diagnostics & Troubleshooting:

    • Independently diagnose hardware and software issues on manufacturing equipment; coordinate directly with vendor technical support to resolve complex system anomalies.

  • Technology Evaluation & Research:

    • Research and monitor emerging additive and advanced manufacturing technologies to evaluate their suitability for integration into next-generation expeditionary platforms.

  • Field Support & Travel:

    • Travel up to 20% to deploy, support, and maintain expeditionary advanced manufacturing systems in field environments.

  • Technical Communication & Stakeholder Briefing:

    • Develop and deliver concise presentations (e.g., PowerPoint briefs) to update project leadership, clients, and multidisciplinary stakeholders.

    • Author comprehensive technical reports, white papers, and standard operating procedures to document engineering findings, workflow processes, and strategic recommendations.
