Job Summary:
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for accurately planning work order requirements for routine, unplanned outage and turnaround work for all craft disciplines (e.g., instrumentation, electrical, rotating machinery and fixed equipment etc.) across CF's distribution facilities.
Responsibilities include scheduling critical work-order job functions for safe and efficient job execution; coordinating and supervising individual work-order execution; acting as a first line supervisor managing major project work comprised of numerous work-orders that encompass unplanned outages and turnarounds.
Job Description:
Planning Expectation
  • Plan work-order requirements to ensure all maintenance work is successfully executed in a safe and productive manner while maintaining high craft quality expectations.
  • Evaluate equipment for inclusion in the Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) Systems and develop requirements for the same. Manage the preventative maintenance system to ensure equipment availability and regulatory compliance is maintained for equipment defined in the system. This will include creating and editing PM jobs and updating Entity information in CFI's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS/SAP).
  • Evaluate equipment spare parts requirements based on manufacturer's recommendations or personal experience for their inventory availability or prompt availability via vendor warehouses. When necessary, create inventory requisitions to have warehouse personnel inventory spare parts that are not readily available.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts that can provide the goods and services necessary for successful work execution.

Scheduling Expectation
  • Ensure critical work-order work steps are properly linked so efficient scheduling of execution resources can be allocated.
  • Create SAP schedules to capture all work-orders within a given event (e.g., routine, unplanned outage or turnaround etc.).
  • Assist with event schedule development within Microsoft Project and maintaining work-order job step progress in SAP to ensure accurate schedule updating in Microsoft Project.
  • Develop and maintain an amicable working relationship with the facility's various departmental personnel who have a stake in developing and maintaining routine, unplanned outages and turnarounds work schedules.
  • Actively manage routine, PM, unplanned impromptu outage and turnaround backlog work schedules.

Coordination, First Line Supervision and Project Management Expectation
  • Coordinate and supervise safe work execution of all routine, brake-in and unplanned outage maintenance work.
  • Coordinate and supervise safe work execution encompassing large project events (e.g., turnaround, major tank outage or major plant paint restoration work etc.).
  • Ensure contract service organizations coordinate with CFI's Safety and Security departments to assure that vendors adhere to CFI's policies and procedures.
  • Assist with developing annual maintenance budgets and ensure execution adherence of the same.
  • Evaluate executed work against planned work for requirement deficiencies and address those deficiencies when planning future work.
  • Provide relief for area Planners and Superintendent when requested.
  • Uphold CFI's High Environmental, Health and Safety expectation while maintaining High Craft Quality Performance and Productivity.

Internal Controls:
Understand and comply with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal control efforts. Identify and bring to the attention of supervision the departmental internal control deficiencies.
Successful incumbents will have:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited university with two years of industry experience, or a construction management degree with four years of industry experience, or five years of verifiable planning experience demonstrated in the chemical industry or a minimum of five years of operations experience and strong mechanical/instrumentation/electrical abilities.
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Experience utilizing various Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and scheduling software applications. Computer proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Projects, Excel, and Word desired.
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in maintenance data analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • In-depth knowledge of process equipment with the ability to trouble-shoot, diagnose failures and recognize damage mechanisms in process equipment.
  • Knowledge of the storage of product systems and loading of marine, rail, and truck systems is desired.

The actual base pay for the position may be influenced by factors such as education, training, skills, qualifications, competencies, years of experience, job-related knowledge, and scope of the role, and could be outside of the posted pay range.
