Job description

Orlick Industriesis an automotive parts supplier producing aluminum components for many varieties of vehicles, with Honda being our largest customer.


Melt Room Operator


Position Summary:

The Melt Room Operator is responsible for maintaining safe and continuous operation of the melting furnace to produce high quality aluminum ingots in support of die cast production. This is a physically demanding position that requires the ability to drive a forklift and to work with molten metal in front of industrial furnaces.

  • Shift Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10 hour weekly rotating shifts (Days 7:00am - 5:00pm; Afternoons 5:00pm - 3:00am)

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Furnace charging; working with a furnace at 1400F to properly melt aluminum to a molten state.
  • Ensuring the holding furnaces are operating at their best capacity by: charge well fluxing, fluxing of holding bath, routine channel cleaning (rodding), cleaning the floor of reverb from build-up of metal, and taking spectrometer samples.
  • Inspecting all scrap bin contents before charging to ensure they are dry and free of debris.
  • Using a forklift in a safe manner; ensuring valid license is maintained for forklift.
  • Placing ingots onto the stacker, strapping bundles with metal banding, and applying recycled aluminum control tag.
  • Completing all necessary paperwork/documentation and utilizing the appropriate computerized systems/ readings.
  • Housekeeping of work area; keeping it clean and free of debris.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous experience working in a foundry
  • Forklift license preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Adaptable to change.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Team player; able to work well with others.
