Job Title: Unit Director
Department: Operations
Reports To: Area Director (AD)
Pay Rate: $25.00/hour
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Primary Function

The Unit Director is responsible for the overall leadership management and operations of the Club, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for youth. This role oversees the delivery of high-quality programs, services, and activities aligned with BGCOPs mission, goals and performance outcomes.

The Unit Director builds and maintains positive relationships with members, families, staff, partners, and community stakeholders while ensuring adherence to BGCOPs policies, strategic plans and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties)

Leadership & Operations

  • Ensure effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of Club programs and services.
  • Uphold and promote the organizations mission, vision, and core values.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming facility that supports positive youth development outcomes.
  • Oversee daily Club operations and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and support all Unit staff, including hiring, training, development, and performance management.
  • Ensure a safe, positive, inclusive environment that encourages youth engagement and growth.

Program Development

  • Implement programs and activities that align with youth development outcomes.
  • Monitor program quality and participation to ensure effectiveness and impact.
  • Develop and support key initiatives, including a strong Youth of the Year program.

Community & Partnerships

  • Serve as a representative of the Club within the community.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with families, schools, and community organizations.
  • Support outreach efforts to increase membership and community engagement.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Manage the Units budget in alignment with Board-approved guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support data collection for grants and reporting requirements (including BGCA reporting).
  • Ensure proper use of organizational resources and fiscal responsibility.

Qualifications (Skills & Knowledge Required)

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing programs or operations in a nonprofit or similar environment.
  • Proven ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs and operations.
  • Strong leadership skills, including problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with leadership, staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Basic competencies in financial management, human resources, and strategic planning.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Primarily office and indoor environment.
  • May require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • May involve extended periods of standing or active engagement with youth.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
