Monte Vista Consulting, Ltd. is a civil engineering consulting firm based in Reno, Nevada, providing site design and civil engineering services across residential, multi-family, and commercial land development projects. As a small firm, we offer a professional environment in which team members work directly with firm leadership and carry meaningful responsibility on the projects they support.

Position Summary

Monte Vista Consulting is seeking a Civil Designer to fill a senior technical position on our design team, with responsibility for design and plan production along with the mentorship of junior engineering staff. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progressively assume project management responsibilities as a long-term component of the role.

Candidates are evaluated on demonstrated technical capability and knowledge. The firm places particular emphasis on proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, a working understanding of the civil site design process and project approval process.

Principal Responsibilities

•        Prepare and manage site improvement plans including grading, utility, and drainage design across a range of projects

•        Translate architectural concept plans into civil engineering design deliverables

•        Coordinate design work with survey data, geotechnical reports, and applicable jurisdictional requirements

•        Provide technical mentorship and review for junior engineering and design staff

•        Support quality control review of plan sets prior to agency submittal

•        Participate in client and agency coordination


Required Qualifications:

•        Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D

•        Working understanding of the civil site design process, including grading, drainage, utility design, and plan production

•        Experience with residential, commercial, industrial and subdivision land development projects

•        Ability to interpret and work from architectural concept plans

•        Strong written and verbal communication skills

•        Demonstrated capacity to mentor less experienced staff

Preferred:

•        Prior exposure to project management responsibilities

•        EIT or PE licensure, held or in progress
