What is an architectural engineer?

As an architectural engineer, it is your job to oversee the planning and construction of buildings, especially during early developmental stages, to ensure architectural and structural integrity. Your work may also encompass building renovations and remodels. Your main duties are to analyze building plans and supervise construction with a focus on functionality, structural stability, and safety. Some architectural engineers focus on a specific area, such as lighting or HVAC, while others work on an entire project. The job involves close collaboration with construction crews and project stakeholders, especially architects and project supervisors.

How does an architectural engineer typically collaborate with architects and construction teams during a project?

Architectural engineers work closely with architects to ensure that design concepts are structurally sound, safe, and efficient. They often participate in project meetings, review blueprints, and recommend engineering solutions to potential issues. Throughout the construction phase, they coordinate with contractors and other engineering specialists to address on-site challenges and ensure that the building meets both design and regulatory standards. This collaborative environment requires strong communication skills and the ability to balance technical requirements with creative design intent.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an architectural engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Architectural Engineer, you need a strong background in engineering principles, architectural design, and building codes, usually supported by a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering or a related field. Proficiency in CAD software, Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems, and relevant certifications like Professional Engineer (PE) licensure are often required. Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills help you collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and clients. These skills are crucial for delivering safe, innovative, and efficient building projects that meet both technical standards and client expectations.

What is the difference between Architectural Engineer vs Civil Engineer?

AspectArchitectural EngineerCivil Engineer
CredentialsBachelor's or Master's in Architectural Engineering, PE licenseBachelor's or Master's in Civil Engineering, PE license
Work EnvironmentDesigning building systems, collaborating with architectsDesigning infrastructure, transportation, and large-scale projects
Industry UsageConstruction, building design, HVAC, structural systemsConstruction, infrastructure, transportation, urban planning

Architectural Engineers focus on building systems and design integration within structures, often working closely with architects. Civil Engineers have a broader scope, including infrastructure and large-scale projects. Both roles require similar credentials and licenses but differ in their primary focus and work environment.

Do architectural engineers get paid well?

Architectural engineers typically earn competitive salaries that reflect their specialized skills in designing and analyzing building systems. Their pay can vary based on experience, education, location, and industry demand, with many earning above the national average for engineering roles.

What do architectural engineers do?

Architectural engineers design and oversee the construction of building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components. They collaborate with architects and construction teams to ensure buildings are safe, functional, energy-efficient, and compliant with codes, often using tools like CAD software and requiring engineering licenses. Their work involves technical analysis, project management, and problem-solving throughout the building process.

Agentic AI Engineer / Multi-Agent Architect - Q126

Alpharetta, GA • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 24 days ago

Job description

Overview:
Job Title: Agentic AI Engineer / Multi-Agent Architect
Company: R2 Technologies
Location: Alpharetta, GA (Hybrid / Remote Options Available)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Contractual
About R2 Technologies: R2 Technologies is a Certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) headquartered in Alpharetta, GA. With over two decades of experience across global markets, we have built a reputation as a trusted partner for IT staffing excellence and cutting-edge digital product innovation. We are driven by innovation and operate on a simple philosophy: "We deliver what we promise, and we promise only what we can deliver." Beyond providing top-tier IT talent, R2 builds cutting-edge proprietary solutions like SmartEnt-an Enterprise AI & IoT Intelligence Platform utilizing advanced NLP and AI technologies. By partnering closely with our clients, we deliver technology-driven outcomes that are realistic, measurable, and impactful.
Job Summary: R2 Technologies is seeking an Agentic AI Engineer to build the next frontier of autonomous software. Instead of building static applications, you will design autonomous agents capable of independent planning, tool usage, and cross-agent delegation. You will be instrumental in developing systems that can reason through complex, multi-step workflows, debug their own errors, and execute tasks without human intervention to power our proprietary platforms and enterprise client solutions.
Key Responsibilities: * Design and orchestrate multi-agent architectures that allow LLMs to collaborate, delegate tasks, and execute complex business workflows.
  • Build custom tools, functions, and API integrations that autonomous agents can trigger independently (e.g., executing code, querying databases, triggering webhooks).
  • Utilize cutting-edge frameworks like LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGPT, or Microsoft Semantic Kernel to structure agentic logic and memory streams.
  • Develop robust evaluation frameworks to score agent performance on reasoning, tool selection accuracy, and loop-termination conditions.
  • Leverage AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to rapidly iterate on prompt engineering, agent state management, and boilerplate system logic.
  • Collaborate with backend and data engineers to ensure agents have secure, low-latency access to enterprise databases and IoT telemetry.

Qualifications: * Up to 3 years of software engineering experience, with a heavy emphasis on Python, AI integration, or multi-agent systems.
  • Deep understanding of Large Language Models (Claude, OpenAI, Grok) and advanced prompt engineering (Chain-of-Thought, ReAct frameworks).
  • Hands-on experience with agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, LlamaIndex).
  • Proven experience working alongside AI coding assistants to enhance productivity.
  • Familiarity with REST/GraphQL API design and enabling LLMs to interact with external tools via function calling.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for pushing the boundaries of autonomous software capabilities.
