POSITION SUMMARY:ย 

ย The Associate, Architectural and Design, manages and coordinates architectural design work for newbuild, revitalization or refurbishment projects. Assists in planning and managing design deliverables while cross coordinating and sharing best practices effectively between external architectural, interior design and consultancy firms worldwide. In collaboration with supervisor, he/she will review drawings/proposals, recommend decisions, and provide innovative solutions and ideas. ย 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:ย ย 

  • Ensuresย the design intent isย apparentย and credible, and that the voice of the Executive Steering Committee and Brand Think Tank is communicated clearly and consistently throughout the design process.ย ย ย 

  • Understands and applies design guidelines & standards, CADD & drawing standards, and contract references,ย assistingย Supervisor with oversight that project materials are delivered onย a timelyย basis.ย ย 

  • Supports project team usingย wideย range of developing professional skills across multiple phases of the designย process andย learning best practices.ย ย 

  • Thrives in a collaborative, innovative, forward thinking, and proactive environment that brings all disciplines together and creates favorable results.ย ย ย 

  • Commitment toย learningย & growth of oneself and others.ย ย 

  • Upholds SQM practices throughout all design phases.ย ย 

  • Occasionally attends meetings with sponsors (clients).ย ย ย 

  • Understandsย importanceย of growth, andย maintainingย client / consultantย relationships studies, collects, shares,ย compares,ย and stores statistical information. Creates presentations for design management.ย ย ย ย 

  • Possesses cost consciousness in all aspects of work and understandsย importanceย of cost complexity balancing along with other cost control needs.ย ย ย 

  • Occasionallyย assistsย in practicality reviews to check that operational, risk or accessibility concerns are being considered in all aspects of design.ย ย ย ย 

  • Occasionally supports shop drawing review process, and yard / contractor coordination meetings, mockup reviews, factoryย visitsย and inspections during newbuilding process and drydock period Receives specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and expected results.ย ย Works under close supervision.ย ย 

  • Takesย ownership of all assignments.ย ย ย 

  • Stays current in industry trends and innovation through research and market knowledgeย Occasionallyย accepts assignments for design concepts, space planning, design development, drawings & details (elevations, sections, details) of designated venues.ย ย ย 

  • Performs other duties as required.ย ย ย

ย QUALIFICATIONS:ย ย ย ย 

  • Design experienceย preferable.ย ย Cruise industry experienceย stronglyย preferred.ย 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Interior Design; Architecture preferred.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:ย ย 

  • Skillsย requiredย include CADD (incl Revit),ย Photoshop,ย PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.ย ย ย 

  • 3D skillsย preferred. Must beย effectiveย communicator with project team (and sponsor whenย required)ย exhibitingย good capabilities in written, oral, and graphic media.ย ย 

  • Representsย department and self in a competent professional mannerย Isย highly motivated, efficient, and organized.ย ย ย 

  • Has fundamental understanding of timeย management,ย with priorities beingย establishedย by supervisor.ย ย ย ย 

  • Works on multiple projects, and multiple tasks under various team members. Hasย strongย ability toย maintainย focus.ย 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:ย ย 

  • Ability to travel internationally orย domesticallyย 10% of theย time at minimum.ย ย ย ย ย
