 The Gist... 

We are seeking an experienced Lead Platform Architect to own the design, governance, and continuous evolution of the enterprise platform that engineering teams build upon. In this role, you will ensure the platform is secure, scalable, and operationally excellent, enabling development teams to deliver faster and with greater confidence. You will be a key voice in shaping platform standards and driving compliance with federal security requirements.

What Your Day Might Include...
  • Lead the design and ongoing architecture of the enterprise platform, ensuring it is secure, scalable, resilient, and optimized for developer productivity
  • Define and govern platform-wide standards for CI/CD, monitoring, testing, automation, and infrastructure across multi-cloud and on-premises environments
  • Ensure the platform meets federal security and compliance requirements, translating frameworks such as FISMA and FedRAMP into practical platform controls
  • Champion platform observability, reliability engineering, and proactive incident response practices across all hosted services
  • Partner with application and data teams to ensure platform capabilities align with evolving delivery needs
  • Evaluate and introduce tooling and infrastructure improvements that reduce friction, improve security posture, and increase operational efficiency
  • Mentor platform engineers and contribute to a culture of quality, automation, and shared ownership
Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree and 10 years of experience leading DevSecOps iniatives, architecture, automation, monitoring, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for large scale, multi-cloud and on-premises platforms.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) required
  • Proven ability to design scalable, secure, and resilient platforms, with deep experience in Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher, Docker, and Terraform for container orchestration and Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Harness and GitHub Enterprise, with strong automation practices across build, test, and deployment workflows using Gradle, Maven, and Nexus
  • Proficiency in platform security tooling including Checkmarx (SAST), SonarQube, Prisma Cloud (Twistlock), NexusIQ, Tenable, Vault, PKI, and Akamai CDN/WAF
  • Hands-on experience with AWS platform services including EC2, EKS, CloudFormation, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, KMS, S3, and Lambda
  • Strong experience establishing observability and incident management practices using New Relic, Splunk, Splunk On-Call, and AWS CloudWatch
  • Experience with platform-level testing frameworks and tools including Gatling, JMeter, Playwright, Selenium, and Testcontainers
  • Knowledge of federal security and compliance standards including FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53, with experience implementing compliant platform controls
  • Familiarity with Backstage for software catalog and developer platform management, and experience with Cloudability for cloud cost governance
  • Experience with Confluent Kafka and Elasticsearch for platform-level event streaming and search capabilities
  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Mural for cross-team collaboration, documentation, and agile delivery
