Walker Macy is a nationally known landscape architecture, urban design, and planning firm based in the Pacific Northwest. We focus on projects that build community, foster environmental stewardship, and enhance the identities of cities, campuses, and institutions.

We are seeking a Marketing and Communications Manager to advance the Walker Macy brand and help tell our story. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, creative, detail-oriented, organized, and a great communicator. The ideal candidate has prior experience in A/E/C marketing and is a confident writer and visual storyteller who uses text, photography, and graphic design to convey meaning, inspire potential clients, and effectively communicate Walker Macy’s mission and work. In this role, you will focus on activities that develop and convey Walker Macy’s brand. You will lead content development for our website and social media platforms, create written and visual content for proposals being assembled by others, lead special projects, and help manage and track long term marketing activities. This role requires someone who can take initiative and work well with others to get things done.

The Marketing and Communications Manager will work closely with our Marketing Director, collaborate with Principals and Project Managers, and collaborate with our remote Marketing Manager who leads proposals and award submissions.

Primary responsibilities include:

Visual Media and Communications:

  • Develop a creative and consistent approach to online content, refining and articulating our company’s brand
  • Combine photography, graphics, and text to create effective design stories
  • Manage website and social media posts

Writing:

  • Write content for proposals, award submissions, website, social media, and other marketing or publication needs in collaboration with design team
  • Refine and edit text provided by others

Graphic Management:

  • Maintain a high-quality set of project data, graphics, and photography in coordination with Principals and project managers

Travel:

  • Occasional travel to Seattle or Portland to coordinate with the other office, and other regional travel related to projects

Education Required: Bachelors or Master’s degree in Liberal Arts, Fine Arts, Design, Marketing and Communications, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or Planning preferred.

Experience Required: At least 6 years’ experience in marketing and communications in a professional office setting. Experience at a design firm or design publication is preferred.

Software Required: Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat), WordPress, Open Asset, social media, and comfort using AI software thoughtfully and ethically.

Workplace: Full-time in our Portland or Seattle office. Work from home option 1 day per week.
